Really? So I should have no problem if use in china? 1 china lady was behind me in the supermarket and told me she can use in SG.

Registered prc users can use here.

For SG users can use in China only. For SG users need to use alipay+ to use locally.

No. No real need to use alipay+ here.

Tried Changi pay but didn't work in SG. Gave up.
I thought you were successful after reading your comments.

As far as i know , I have tested both in Singapore and at Macau It doesn't matter whether you are using the alipay international or China domestic apps as long as you are NOT a Chinese Nationals you can only use them in China and not anywhere else .

Maybe in future there will be changes but as of now I just tested in Macau and it failed.

Yes, cash is fine but 1 bottle of water costs 3RMB, try passing 100 rmb to the cashier. :D

Indeed. I exchanged RMB 3000 cash for my one week short trip to South Fujian (Nan'an 南安, Jinjiang 晋江 and ShiShi石狮). In the end I spent zero cents cash since my WeChat Pay Wallet balance was working fine.

It is linked to my Singapore credit card and Singapore mobile number. After I tried verification again with Passport and Face Recognition, now it can accept Red Packet and Transfer (YMMV). So I got more balances in the wallet through red packets and use the balance to pay in supermarkets and also for street vendors.

No problem, I thought there were changes in policy as you never know.
In fact every year I will try them out in Macau.
In Singapore I tried them sometime at NUS Starbucks whenever I am there as they dont accept cash, only cashless.

will be interested to see the details on giving change.

the problem is the lack of exact change...
Everybody is clear that the onus is on them to accept your cash and give you change in cash as well. This works for their old and young too, plus those who are unable to use mobile phones or do not possess bank accounts.

Yes, international/SG Alipay/WeChat doesn't work in MAC/HKG/SG or anywhere else apart from CHN.
Hopefully these will be interopable soon so that the convenience can be fully maximised.

i heard the norm is they pay you back the exact change to your alipay or wechat correct?

They wont scam you like some countries with the no change trick right.

It is by Policy, not that Alipay and Wechat Pay do not want do it. otherwise Alipay and Wechat Pay will replace Visa and Master Card current payment system, No additional payment terminal is needed, just a QR code.
BTW, even use China IC registered Wechat Pay and Alipay, the payment outside China is only can use China RMB account money and has the payment limit, cannot use Saved international Visa and Master Card.

Yup, which from my knowledge it's being liberalise.
I believe just a matter of time to have this since CHN has leverage to open up and provide another alternative to compete with legacy MC & VS.

I'll be in Guangdong in couple of weeks. Intend to use both alipay and WeChat pay. Will update if there's any changes.

Recently WeChat required me to do a biometric verification. Last used in Guangzhou in January.
