Not entirely tap for MRT and bus in those cities. Other payments still easier with alipay or WeChat pay.

I have a trip coming up next week to Shanghai. is there any checklist on payment I must ensure I get it ready apart from Alipay and WeChat pay? and how did I test it will work for sure?

Can only test in China. Make a small purchase on arrival.

For info. In most of the China's big citys like Beljing, Shanghai, or even SUzhou, now you can use your Singapore issued international Credit Card directly tap for MRT and BUS ticket. it just like Singapore. no need to use Alipay or Wechat pay.

I downloaded Alipay and Wechat pay, linked both my CC and youtrip but couldn't work when I tested at our supermarkets. Need to uninstall and do everything again?

you mean supermarkets like Fairprice and Sheng Siong ?

I don't think our international Alipay can be used to pay here
