As long as I collect more dividends, whether stock price crash or not doesn't bother me. At most a crash is a good opportunity to buy stocks on discount. 2020 my dividend dropped 20.9% but my spending also dropped since I couldn't travel overseas. But other than that, it keeps going up....

Is there tax for dividends from the Hong Kong stocks that I hold?

Hong Kong does not have withholding tax. But if you invest in structures such as ETF, the ETF's underlying stocks might have withholding tax. Also, if you invest via brokerage such as POEMS, the broker will have some fees for managing corporate actions such as dividends.

Hi guys
Do you manually type in the dividend info in excel or do you use any app to gather data of dividend received ?

Once a month I check my accounts to check the dividends going in and I type it into my spreadsheet.

It doesn't take more than 30min every month so the effort to me is manageable. Also good to make sure that the money actually went in 🤔

Thank you for sharing that. I should make time for that too. I noticed that Yahoo has info of dividend received although it does not show for all of stocks.
Ibkr is a bit more troublesome to gather info of dividend received.

Same, I am getting record dividends in May and June 2024. The local and overseas financial sector is paying out very good dividends!

There are many local bloggers that share their dividend portfolio. You can look at a few of those blogs for ideas

One thing you will notice is that many of the local bloggers hold DBS, OCBC, and UOB, so maybe their dividends are decent, but always DYODD. 😅
