Even if it says it will ship to SG directly, it could be carelessness on Amazon's part. You can only be sure if it does when you try to check out, and take the check out process to the last stage, prior to payment. Not the first time they made the error.

Correct, they still don't ship to SG. I just checked it again.

Amazon.com states in stock August 13..

And I doubt they will make delivery for Kindle straight to Sg. After being NO for so many years, I doubt they will do that now.

I find it weird that Amazon still doesn't ship kindle to singapore when they do allow us to buy their ebooks. I wonder which department has goofed. Maybe the shipping department hasn't been informed that the ebook department is already selling ebooks to Singapore.

But eBooks bought from Amazon cannot be read on Kindle. Their eBooks can only be read on web browsers unless your account is US. That's why I hesitate to buy Kindle. It sucks to be in Singapore. My eyes are very tired from reading their eBooks on my iPad, considering I am a fast reader.

This info seems to have changed more dramatically in the last few months. You can now do this in sg. The catalogue is 1 million vs 4 million from the US app store, as far as I can tell from my research...

Mine is US account though.
But I do heard SG store has lesser eBooks compared to if your account is US account.

Can you confirm? I do not wish Amazon to nuke all my ebooks when I use my kindle as I still have 2 uncompleted ebooks.

What you have already bought will always stay in your account (whether or not you decide to buy books using a local cc/address.)

Received my oasis on monday. It's now my go-to reader. The form factor is simply amazing. Small, super light, with a generous bezel making it so easy to hold and flip pages with one hand.

Congratulation. I find it very light too. Sometimes a little too light that I worried I will drop it.. ;)

i'm considering to buy the Kindle Oasis 7" but worried about how to acquire the ebook titles from Amazon marketplace.

Do I have to create a US account? Or use some kind of VPN to change my locality to USA?

My intention is the read technical books for certification exams, like textbooks from Wiley or Sybex.

Regards,

Regards,

I would not really recommend a Kindle for this kind of purpose because you need jump from place to place when you read technical manuals/textbook. A paper version is still better I feel.

A device like an iPad that has a bigger screen may be better if you really prefer an electronic device.
