Amazon Kindle Oasis announced!

My voyage was stuck on the boot up page and cannot be use anymore. Not sure what is the cause. Saw this online and gets real interesting. However, the price seems steep if I am going to get the Oasis 3G (without promotion)......

Think tonight I will get tempted to click for one oasis.. ;)

Why u need the 3g if u r in Singapore. Don't think can works in sg.

Yup, there's just no need to get the 3G version since wifi is so readily available.

The 3G works, I tried before in my 1st gen of PW. Be it in Singapore or oversea....

Quite true also. Since my first pw, I have been downloading books either from Amazon "Send to Kindle" or from PW. My wife is now using the Gen1 PW, she only search for books through the PW Store and download them directly to the Kindle, sometimes using home wifi or download them using 3G while not at home or when we are travelling. Thus this case the 3G comes in handy.

But in modern world, 4G will be much better than 3G as sometimes the speed can be quite slow but acceptable if only browsing for ebooks or downloading them.

How did you get it so quickly? :)

You ordered from Amazon directly right? Isn't there a waiting period because of stock-out, and additionally it has to be shipped to a shipper before being redirected to Singapore?

In fact, I bought the Oasis sometime 29 June, and received at ComGateway around 1st or 2nd July. As I bought a Phone Holder from Amazon as well so waited a while before click "ship" on ComGateway.

roughly the timing is
06 July I click to "Ship"
07~08 July ComGateway update me item shipped.
11 July DHL status items reached singapore, "item partial delivery", somehow, they only delivered my Phone Holder.
13 July, somehow MIA for 2 days then my Kindle Oasis delivered around 4pm to my work place.

BTW, from ComGateway I sent the items under "Normal shipment" which states 5~8 days as compared to "Express, 3~4 days". Saved a couple of USD there and also received my items around within 5 days.

Thanks for the info. It looks like Amazon has stock for Oasis now. Will be ordering mine soon, prob over the weekend. :)

Even if it says it will ship to SG directly, it could be carelessness on Amazon's part. You can only be sure if it does when you try to check out, and take the check out process to the last stage, prior to payment. Not the first time they made the error.
