Is it wise to get the kindle now? i'm in NS and can techinically only use it on the weekends, then again, when i buy 3 or 4 books, it costs ~ 40 to 50 bucks anyways...... (i'm planning to dl the ebooks rather than getting them over amazon )

I say go for it...its definitely worth it and will enrich the times in-between bunk and duty.

The other reason why you may be reading a lot more is that suddenly you can get exposed to a lot of new genres of books. Amazon regularly releases lots of temporarily free books, and some are real gems, non-fiction or otherwise..

The ad version has ads on ONLY the front index page. Sometimes there're special offers, like 'click here to get a free $2 amazon voucher'. You need to pay more for a non-ad version which doesn't have the ads, but I don't really see the point of that.

If you are reading free books, that's quite straightforward using wifi.

Cost me about S$159 becos i had a special one time comgateway shipping discount of USD10... Otherwise it would have cost me S$174.. this USD conversion rate is based on 1.26 that is charged by my CC.. i used the free shipping from amazon to my CGW address and paid for express shipping from CGW to Singapore... in all it took about 15 days to arrive into Singapore.

i know one mass order seller next round of paperwhite arrival is in december and she is selling for S$190.. lol my colleague saw my paperwhite and i recommend her this seller but in the end.. she managed to learn from me how to buy her kindle thru amazon direct so she is all good now

Try check out Jeff's blog. He is one of the few bloggers that gave a very detail how u cn get hold of the kindle & purchase eBooks all by urself. Unless if u find it v troublesome (which I don't thk so as I also made the purchase myself after going thro his blog just once) then u prob may want to gt fr those mass order forum. They generally ex by ard $30 to $100. Depend which forum u gt fr, some also help u to create & pay for the vpn.
On the other hand u cn also create vpn acc all by urself, Thks to Jeff's blog.

anyway, received my paperwhite 2 days ago. So far so good. the cover is definitely worth it. However my paperwhite got 1 small defect. there is a light leek from 1 point at the lower left side. (side, not bottom..). but anyway. part and parcel of being an early adopter I guess

totally awesome! lighting issue still bearable I guess. But got slight bluish hue i think? not sure... but i think I wont send it back anytime soon, unless I get really irritated with it.

Anyway, I got this crazy idea, do u think the USB cable can plug into apple's usb charger to charge paperwhite on a wall plug?

Yes the usb charger can be used... bluish hue... not as bad as the NSTGL right?

but the brightest is super bright huh?
