Nvidia recent activity is really bad. False advertising, PR spin on adaptive sync, and really bad drivers. Then followed up with a response that allegedly implied that their buyers are stupid. After the class action suit, I hope US FTC will also follow up with another action to keep their shenanigans in check.

Funny thing is Nvidia abandoned their early "volta" stacked memory application and went with AMD/Hynix solution of HBM for their future cards.

Currently AMD R9-290 is still the best value card. On the other hand, AMD 390x will be great since it's using HBM but I need to see real performance benchmarks before a decision is made. My oversea friends will use their refunds for it happily though.

The nvidia products are either broken or astronomically overpriced. Will be avoiding for now, so it's either Intel or AMD for my various platforms...

Damn exaggerated, can. It's only GTX 970 that is problematic, and even then it's just the whole hooha over the last 0.5 gig of vram. Performance on the card today is more or less the same as it was when it was first launched and people were celebrating its price-to-performance ratio then. So it's not logical to suddenly paint all Nvidia products as broken just because of this.

I thought when people do a price to performance ratio, they look at the FPS in game rather than fret over vram...

The performance of gtx 970 was broken at launch. The only reason the faud was exposed was because end users noticed the performance drop that the initial reviews never picked up. Only when there was enough uproar did nvidia backtrack and ammended the advertised gpu stats (which btw included reduced *** counts)

Yes the performance is very good (until more than 3.5 gb video ram is needed) but was the advertising misleading. Yes it was.

Look at that new titan x card, they are intending to release it at 1350 usd so that they can justify the next titan z2 card to debut at horrendous 3k usd. I dont like the way nvidia is inflating their price of the card, they aint really that over powerful anyway.

i been a avid supporter for NV all these years, using their card from fx 5600 all the way to gtx 670, but recent trend of overcharging their card really put me off.

Nope, the high end 300 series (380 and 390) are rumored to be ridiculously power hungry.

Can't fit them in my tiny rig. Already have a GTX 980 anyway.

Even though I generally favor the green camp, I have to say, hope AMD does pull off something spectacular, i.e., powerful card at a competitive price point. If nothing else, that will at least force Nvidia to rethink its pricing strategy. Meaning that at the end of the day, we consumers benefit.

1 question, for the 970, is the competitive pricing due to new tech e.g their so called 3.5gb +0.5, cheaper costs purely due to less 0.5gb or nvidia priced it on purpose?

Titan series is price gouging.

970 is priced at the same range between 290 and 290X but is broken and falsely advertised to compete.

You need to pay 60% more for 980 from a 290X for a performance gain of about 5 to 15 fps depending on your screen resolution. Competitive?.

290X currently is cheaper than 970, its being reduced to USD299.


I would agree the GTX 980 is far from competitive, it basically a mid range maxwell... the big maxwell is going to be hole burner in ur wallet...



We all agree NV card is definitely in the high side for price.

eh I thought it was due to the release of 970 that why 290x was reduced to USD299, to be competitive with it? It all about having competition which will lead to price reduction that benefits us consumers.

Let wait and see how the performance of AMD 300x series and it effects on the GPU market. hope it benefits both side of fans.

Actually the reduction of the 290X was after the fiasco of the 970. AMD label the drop of the 290X price with "4GB means 4GB"

390x seems to come with a AIO which means that its gonna be quite hot and VRAM is still 4gb... there should be newer cards with more ram to support bigger resolutions. This is one of the problems im facing while building a rig for 7680x1440

we just wait and see.... i dont think in the future nvidia gonna sell crazy price again due to

tight market and us economy is not stable.... so hopefully the price point will also effect

by this.... but whatever is it... for me nvidia is better than AMD... thats all...
