Help clear last gen stocks KYM? :o

But tiagong no one is buying them. In "other regions" even went pricing went below SGD$2500. I wonder why...
Not surprising actually. Most people will not buy a 3+ K laptop under normal circumstances. I ordered a Legion 7 with the RTX 3080 config as well last year in May because it was so difficult to buy a desktop GPU. Even if you can find it, it cost so much, that the RTX 3080 or even the RTX 3070 itself is worth the price of an entire laptop. Good thing was I cancelled my order a week later because the waiting time was also quite long, i.e. 2 months approx, and the prices of GPUs were coming down a little.
Anyway, I do note that the warranty has been reduced from the usual 3 years Legion Ultimate to just a usual 1 year Premium Care. So while the prices look quite close, they actually sneakily shortened the warranty.

3 years vs 1 year warranty care is a lot of differences actually.

Yes, and I noticed that Lenovo's site tend to change this surreptitiously. So for those that skip customization because the pre-assembled ones look cheaper, please be careful. Otherwise if your 2 to 3+K laptop goes bust just after a year, you are on your own.

Generally, higher resolution should come with better display specs (my assumption). You should check things like brightness and color accuracy, etc.

Battery life takes a hit with the higher res display though, but given that it's a 16", I would still go with the WQXGA. The pixels at 1920x1200 can sometimes be seen on a poor 14-15" panel, so on a 16" it's definitely noticeable.

Yep. My point was, at 15 or 16", battery life is usually not a priority since the larger panels typically consume more power. If this is the case, going with a higher resolution display for better visual clarity might make more sense. But yes, size of panel, resolution and refresh rate - all these tax the battery quite a bit. The higher resolution also means the GPU works harder, further draining the battery - but it's a smaller annoyance to me than seeing pixels. :s13: Perhaps some may find low res displays acceptable.

For me, if it's a 15" or larger laptop, I fully expect to carry along my charger when I'm out. There are some that might buck this trend, but I'm just being general here.

thanks for the feedback.

on lenovo website the higher resolution 16" WQXGA (2560 x 1600) is cheaper by $10 to the lower resolution 16" WUXGA (1920 x 1200).

both are 400nits

I don't think you will be using it at max brightness most of the time when you're outside if you're only on batt, unless you're outdoors under bright sunlight.

I will go for the higher res and adjust the monitor settings accordingly.

Choosing between Intel or AMD processor will have a bigger impact on battery than the screen though.

Alright here comes the codes! (All still valid at time of this post)

[Best of the bunch: these 2 codes give different discounts for different models]

EXCLUSIVE
HZCNSALE
MASTERCARD5
SHOPBACKAMD
YAHOO
Shopback3 (stackable with Shopback cashback 2.5-5% but may still work out to be less than some codes above)

Need to enter the codes as shown i.e. upper- / lower- case letters. Also, student discount (additional 5%) is stackable with promo codes, provided that you're able to open a student account / have an email account from an educational institution.

Happy shopping!

Hi guys, me again, just did my research about the current promo codes as I was getting another Lenovo laptop. Here to share again!

BUT, try to also speak to their online agents! Some (unfortunately not all) of them are really helpful in getting quotes for you after you create a saved cart for them to work with. The quotes they give can be cheaper than any of these promo codes! Plus, these quotes work as "eCoupon", so I suspect that they are compatible with ShopBack too (as opposed to the promo codes above)!

I'd like to say that I'm quite happy with my choice of the Legion 5 Pro (AMD R7 5800H, 16GB RAM, RTX 3070, 2560x1600 res, 165Hz), the CPU and GPU seem to be a good match. So far, the most demanding game I've thrown at it, Metro Exodus PC Enhanced, runs quite smoothly even with RT set at Very High, Raytraced Water Reflections (or something like that) with DLSS at Quality.

Now waiting for a Keychron BT keyboard to arrive, already got a Razer Basilisk X Hyperspeed (didn't install Synapse because don't need all that bloatware). I already have my Edifier R19U (will leave this in Chiangmai) and Creative Pebble V3 (will leave this in Toronto) for portable audio needs.

Should I bee using the laptop while in Sg, I'll use a pair of Logitech MX Sound 2.0 speakers that I'd forgotten I'd gotten before getting an LG soundbar for my main rig. The speakers have been gathering dust in my storeroom.

Thanks for sharing.

I am looking at yoga 7 gen 7 AMD and Yoga Slim 7 X Pro... Or maybe even the upcoming Thinkbook 16p gen 3. The prices are very high and the coupons you shared are useful but not great. Still miss the IPRICE30 discount.

Ya unfortunately those are the only codes that I could find from multiple sources. I don't think we will ever see IPRICE30 type of discount again, not in the current climate. Nowadays a promo code with 15-18% discount is already considered good.

But like I said, your may get the best discount (like I did) from chatting with one of their online agents to get a quote, and I can confirm that it is compatible with ShopBack so that would give you another 8-10% cashback during promo period, which would add up to close to 30% discount altogether, i.e. just like IPRICE30.
