The new Zen is not bad....The IPC increase is nice. AMD shows that is slightly faster than 10900K in games.

Meh, AMD raised the price just enough for people to hesitate a bit. Pretty smart if you ask me

If you already own a Ryen 2, can skip.... new user can jump straight to Zen3, or wait till neck long long for Zen2 price drop.

True for Zen 2 owners. unless you those wants absolutely the latest in tech. Zen 3 will be the last to be supported on AM4 before socket change for next gen stuffs.

Ryzen 9 5950X 16c/32t 3400 4900 64 MB 105 W $799
Ryzen 9 5900X 12c/24t 3700 4800 64 MB 105 W $549
Ryzen 7 5800X 8c/16t 3800 4700 32 MB 105 W $449
Ryzen 5 5600X 6c/12t 3700 4600 32 MB 65 W $299*

Why the 8c/16t so bohua

If not counting the rest of the system, 12c looks good.

But damn I still remember when i could buy a midrange CPU with motherboard for just SGD$400

Midrange cpu is considered quad core? I wouldn’t consider a 6 core cpu to be exactly midrange anymore.

Only the 5900x makes sense. I reckon most rigs will be 5900x+rtx3080

Might be worth it to save more to get the top of the line 5950x as this is the last generation to support AM4.

Probably just wait for next socket myself. my x370 cannot use the Zen 3 cpus. I could get a Zen 2 as interim if the prices drop enough. My 1700x couldn't o/c much, bad draw :(
