the AK100 is such a peculiar player.

personally, it sounds very good but not great compared to the DX100.
paired with an amp, the AK100 can sound much better, but it's no DX100.

for some, moving up from a sony or cowon player, the AK100 is an upgrade.
for those who've heard much better, the AK100 needs that extra help (an amp) to elevate the SQ further. This eliminates the portability advantage cos once you add an amp, might as well spend a bit more and go for the DX100.

So long story short, agree on amp wasting the portability part.

The AK100 is definitely a step up for those on Sony and Cowon players, and that's about it for this peculiar player.

i agree with kenz.

in this case, there are 2 types of people with their goals in mind.

1. portability
2. sacrifice everything for the best SQ on the go

most consumers (like myself), would rather go for a better portability than to have extremely good SQ.

while the other would just pretty much bring bricks and "potential looking bombs" all around whenever they go.

imagine go into mrt
opens the suitcase
