sry newbie to andriod:

How do we in sg pay for apps? set up credit card account in google?

When phone is rooted, do paid apps become free apps?

Yah you need Google Checkout account. Some like Gameloft offer alternative payment such as PayPal.

No, root doesn't give you free apps.

Developers spend lots of time on their apps, so support them by paying. They cost a fraction of your phone bill, and upgrades are usually free.

No need US Sim ;)

The Android market doesn't accept paypal, but some companies like Gameloft accept alternative payment methods on their own website.

You can use your credit card for purchases. You need to sign up for a Google Checkout account first.

yup, basically when you first purchase an app, they will prompt you to add a cc inside. i tried it once and it's very simple... refund is also very straightforward... just uninstall within 15min can already.
