I think it is better to wait for more availability. Right now it is not available from official Xiaomi Singapore stores, only from 3rd party online stores in Lazada/Shopee/etc.

BTW, I am not so good at finding lobangs.

The list price of Mi Box S Gen 3 from Xiaomi Malaysia may be a good reference, at RM 239, or about S$73.

Xiaomi Malaysia list price for Mi Box S Gen 2 is at RM 219, or about S$67. With the small price differnce, it makes sense to buy Mi Box S Gen 3. But then I can see there are cheaper pricing of Mi Box S Gen 2 from local online stores (below S$60).

Go for Gen 3 as one Shopee Malaysia seller (sold 9K+) Gen2 & Gen3 boxes. Current promo for Gen3 is RM200 (about S$60.23) Link HERE

One reason why some people would still need an Android TV Box, despite having an LG Smart TV (or Samsung Smart TV).

Take note some functionalities of Google Streamer 4k may not be available in Singapore.

Interestingly Mecool also comes out with Realtek chipset based certified Google TV box (including Netflix certification).

Somehow Dolby Vision does not work.

For those who do not care about Netflix certification and Google Android TV certification, but want a high quality Android TV box with Powerful HW specifications, then Minix U8K Ultra may be an option: flagship Amlogic S928X-K CPU, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage. It does have Widevine Level 1 DRM so you can still have 4K YouTube.

This may be a good box for those who want to play Android games on big screen.

Mecool certified boxes nay be on the expensive side from their website.
https://www.mecool.com/

Some Taobao shops may sell them a bit cheaper.

From my quick search in Taobao, you need to add GST and shipping fee.

KM2 Plus Deluxe, Amlogic S905X4, 4GB+32GB, at about RMB 580.

KM9 Pro Max, Realtek RTD1325, 2GB+32GB, at about RMB 350

TV Box tier list, just for reference.

You can see the author puts those uncertified boxes in the trash list.

As per some reports over the internet, Mecool has two major OEMs.

1) Skyworth -- more popular models may get new Android TV OS version updates.

2) Videostrong -- being phased out, not likely to get new Android TV OS version updates.

Not worth it. Mi TV Box Gen 2 or Gen 3 should be the way to go.

thank you sir, don't mind can explain the reasoning? cause i see the H96 ram higher got 4gb, but mibox gen 3 only 2gb.

or it doesn't matter one, difference too small that's why go for more stability?

For Android TV OS devices like Mi Box, 2GB RAM is enough. Build quality of Mi Box S (Gen 1/2/3) is much better than no brand boxes.

I have Mi Box S Gen 1 and Gen 2.

I came to this conclusion after getting six generic no brand boxes back in 2018/2019. One of them was dead after two years (Tanix TX6 OEM model).

You may want to factory reset your Mi Box S Gen 2 and set it up again. It may well fix the lag issue.
