Mainly because i prefer at least 4gb over 2gb. Any recommendations?

TV box is not like mobile phone. 2GB is good enough for streaming. For gaming, 3GB RAM is better but still GPU is more important.

Mecool KM1 S905X3 has 4GB RAM version. You can consider it if you do not need Netflix HD. Beelink GT1 Mini 2 is not bad as well.

Beelink GT-King S922X CPU based box has 4GB RAM as well, good for Android gaming.

For those RK3318/3328 box, avoid them as well, 4GB RAM is basically wasted with the low end CPU.

As mentioned before, avoid H6 and H616 based box as they are thermally challenged. And the CPU is worse than S905X3.

biang so cheap

any idea HDMI out to RCA will work?

Quick glance through Lazada shows X96Q to be of H313 CPU and below S$30. Other below S$30 boxes are usually super low end S905W and RK3229 CPU based. Indeed H313 should be faster than them and can be pretty decent with 2GB/16GB configuration. Taobao price is roughly RMB105 or S$21. The worry of H313 CPU is main thermal.

Box to avoid: hot H6 and H616 based boxes like TX6 and TX6S. They are known to have thermal issues.

Have you checked the CPU temperature for the H313 box?

Review of X96Q says it is hot and can not play pubg.

Do not buy from Carousell. Just buy new cheap S905X3 based boxes from Lazada, Shopee and Qoo10, for example, A95X F3 Air 2GB/16GB configuration, around S$45 or lower.

One thing to be careful is not to use a useful Gmail to login. Rather create a new Google account for the box if you are settling up the box. Tell the tenant to do so as well if they are settling up the box.

Another thing, browser is not the way to go in general.

BTW, where are the tenants from? That may decide the app to install, if you are setting up the box.

ahh. thanks for the precaution! very important indeed!

my tenants are Malaysian Malay.

ill consider your recommendation. do you also have comment on this below box?

main consideration for this box is the price point.

I will say do not buy the X96Q box. If you want to buy super cheap box below S$30, buy RK3318 based box instead, 2GB/16GB about S$25, for example, H96 Max 2GB/16GB.

Thanks Xiao fan! I can use that to type into most app, but strangely can't input into YouTube search Bar which is what I really need it for. :s13:

For YouTube, it is easy, use your mobile phone to type and then cast to TV through Mi Box S (built in Chromecast function).

The box is preloaded with what?

Preloaded boxes will be more expensive lah, not these S$25 boxes like X96Q H313 or H96 Max RK3318.

But yes you are able to load apps by yourself and they can be pretty usable with 2GB/16GB configuration. It is just the quality may vary a lot for these no brand generic boxes.

Or pay a bit more for X96Air 2/16GB S905X3 at about S$39.00 which you can dual boot Android 9.0 eMMc and Coreelec through TF card upto 32GB.

Good point to buy S905X3 based boxes.

Review of X96 Air seems to be okay at its low price, only concern is thermal since the reviewer says it is a bit hot since S905X3 CPU itself is pretty good in thermal.
https://androidpctv.com/review-x96-air-opinion/

Anyway, this is for sure better than many RK3318/H6/H313/H616 based boxes out there. And that is why I say no point to buy S905W/RK3229/RK3318/H6/H313/H616 based boxes already if you want to buy no brand generic boxes.

Take note 2GB/16GB version only supports 2.4GHz wifi.

Better to get lower version. Android 7 > 8 >9 in terms of app compatibility.

Avoid Android 10 for now.

This is not the same as Android phones.

Hi guys,

I have been using Tanix TX3 mini for a few years, looking to buy a new box, am confused over the many variations.

Came across this Tx9s: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/400...earchweb0_0,searchweb201602_,searchweb201603_

Is it a good box?

Or if you have good ones to recommend?

Thanks!

If you have TX3 Mini and like it, is your TX3 Mini original Tanix version (with Tanix logo) or OEM version (without Tanix logo)?

This TX9S is an OEM version. Quality of Tanix OEM version can vary a lot. And even for original Tanis box their new generation of low cost boxes are not really worth buying -- including this TX9S or TX6S.

And even though S912 CPU is not too bad, it is still better to buy S905X3 box, if you are still interested in buying low cost no brand box. They are at similar price but with lower thermal and higher performance.

Or you may want to consider higher cost but higher quality box like Xiaomi Mi Box S.
