Preferable that. Else manually accessible also can with a way to secure the hard disk from the front. Now the in thing seems to be fan fan fan, led led led. I am not into what’s the trend but what’s practical.

Thanks. Forgot to mention looking at mid tower only & preferably with built -in mechanism so that I can just slot in the hard disk.

Like that might as well buy a Lenovo ThinkStation with front-loading hotswap caddies at the front of the casing.

Even most professional workstations from the likes of Lenovo, DELL and HP with all kind of bells and whistles (think dual processors, ECC memory, yada yada yada) don't offer front-loading HDD caddies. They are typically found only on rack server or tower server chassis for a reason.

I prefer an internal caddy accessible from the front so I can just slot in & out the HD whenever I need. Best is it is hotswappable.

It is really amazing this feature on a casing is so hard to find when it is most practical. Practically all brands design around led & fan.

Current gen of cases does not cater for this as there is no demand for it and ppl rather use/want the space for hdd/ssd, fans, rad support or 5.25" ODD for some reasons.

Yes. I was gonna write it’s consumers fault. They just prefer to unplug all the cables carry out the heavy casing from under their desk , open the side panel to change their HD. WOW

I think 2 years also I ask the same question. 2 years later casing design still the same patten.

This is just your perspective although we have no control over it. But yeah, this is the market trend. One can only adapt to it or you go make your own case from scratch to suit your needs. lol.

Lol. If i have that ability I will. The way I see is if nothing changes it will look like a strip club eveytime someone on their PC. Perhaps they like it that way. Just my 2 cents.

Why can't you just sit on the floor and change your hard drive without having to carry the case or remove all the cables?

Cause it is inside a cabinet that comes with the desk. I am not gonna change my desk.

Then you should really put some serious thought into buying a tower server from Dell, HP or Lenovo since it's a major point of contention. Forget about your existing hardware.

Only tower server chassis will have front-loading HDD bays that are directly wired to the motherboard for hot swapping.

On the plus side, it comes with Xeon processors and ECC memory that are superior to consumer trash.

Most people usually have 1 or 2 hdd. Not like every week need to swap out the hdd. Set once and forget.

Don't recall corsair having a mid sized version of the 800D that has hot swappable bays. You'll have better luck looking for those optical drive to 3.5 hdd bay slots. For the record, I'm still using an old full tower Antec df-85 from 2010, back then they also offer a mid tower version(iirc) that had hot swappable front bays.

Aesthetics wise, it has an industrial look that might be considered unpleasant looking for some, but it has all the bells and whistles that i need that made me reluctant to replace the casing.
