We have split the Registration Fees & Installation Fees invoice from the subscription. Our billing cycle is still the month in advance.

Youtube issue has been fixed and should be fast again. Please let us know if there are still any issues.

still getting mix result

some 1080p content get from SG server but still got buffering, some buffer fast
most 720p content buffer fast and SG server but some still goes to overseas for example v8.cache5.c.youtube.com or v5.cache5.c.youtube.com
there is improvement but still not as good as when i got the VQ connection back in april

so far, haven see any video loading from tc.v*.cache*.c.youtube.com

Hi, just curious to know why you say "I hope not".

Are you suggesting that Static should be part of the 200 Mbps deal with no other increment? Maybe you know something that we don't. Care to share?

Thanks

The "I hope not" is referring to your statement about "Or charge static addon like $10 more".

If a static ip VAS is at just mere $10 more, I will be the first to jump ship from ViewQwest.

I will not sit and wait for "nightmare" to befall on me as well as all other decent users who know the responsibilities (social and ethnical) that come with having a static ip, the know-hows to fulfill those responsibilities, the implications that it may bring, and etc.

In short, it is the same factors that kept me on SingTel Magix PremiumSurf for almost a decade, away from all the mainstream ISPs back then.

If you are genuinely keen to know more, I am fine with chat over coffee.

Could you give some examples of the video's you are facing issues with. So we can work with google on them.

Thanks

Well, if youtube local caching servers work the way I think they should, they will not have all the youtube videos out there, but only those that are viewed by Singapore users previously. This should lead to that behaviour you mentioned, and is normal. I believe other ISP users will also encounter the same.

I think the previous issue VQ had was more towards youtube not being able to identify VQ users as being in Singapore, and hence not allowing them to take advantage of the local caching servers.

it was fine previously, fast and smooth buffering as what VQ has claimed. when i notice the HD buffering is way slower than normal, youtube was buffering from overseas server, they then mention they restored some changes that were made to tweak china streaming.

it is going back to local cache server, just the HD videos not as fast as last time, some are fast, some slow.

this is what their advertisement show ViewQwest: The Fibernet difference - YouTube

Let me drop a line to Google to understand how their global cache servers work. Will post our findings once we get a response.

I don't think there were any issues with the network. Please do PM me your contact details so I can get our tech support to follow up with you on your issue.

Make sense. Applications and Services caching in today's context seem to behave in the manner you described. Thus, won't be surprise if YouTube's caching is also on similar design.

So do all plans require you to pay the extra $5.35 for modem rental? Meaning the cheapest plan is $65?

yes, the only plan does not require the modem rental fee is the 100mbps bundle plan. which is only 5cents different from the 100mbps alone plan.

all the while for all contract plans is modem rental at 5.35 for 24mths. however now is 5.35 every month regardless how long you stay with VQ including after 24mths which cover the modem warranty.

this applies to non-contract plans also to offset the high startup cost, previously need to pay upfront 128.40 together with activation fee + reg fee + 2 to 3mths of service fee on the 1st bill, which is a huge sum for 1st bill, until now VQ has not reply what special promo will be given for those who paid huge sum for 1st bill.

now the bill is separate out into activation fee + reg fee for 1st bill as soon as u sign up for 1st bill, 2nd bill is when ur service successfully activated and will be billed 2mths + rental fee for 1st service bill, subsequently 1 mth + rental. although the bill look smaller, but if giro approval gets delay, you may end up huge deduction on 1st giro deduction too.
