Any Iphone5 user with power button issues?

My power button its not working well recently and I using SGP casing , when i remove casing and try to click on power button, I have to use a bit of force and press a few times before it work. I usually use SBSetting to lock my phone for now.

My phone is still on warranty but I do not want to go and exchange a refurbish iphone5. Is that any good 3rd party shop then fix this power button and perhaps with a small fee of 10 - 20 dollars?

sorry to be blunt, but please just get it changed.

u rather go for unauthorised repairs when it's under warranty?
refurbished sets are fully tested btw.

yep and I dun think other brands of HP actually offer to replace the whole fone with a brand new shell with refurb components?

Got it swapped at QCD. (Location differs if your unit comes from your telco.)

Just do an exchange will be better since under warranty. Even if you were to go for 3rd party servicing its not gonna be $30 or less. A simple 3gs button replacement consist of mic, home button, antenna, speaker are all in one component. Replacing the home button is as good as changing the above mentioned. And the last time i went which is 2mths ago it cost a jaw dropping $80 for my dad's phone.

Do I need to factory reset my phone first before heading down?

Will my data (photos and app data) be gone, will it be able to restore in the new phone?

I'm using iCloud backup by the way.

Do a iCloud backup first before heading down. Once at the exchange centre, they will check first. If it deem as faulty, they will do a wipe for you (so call they go to the settings and ask you to press delete phone or something).

I see. I have setup Photo Stream as well. Will my whatsapp/camera taken photos be deleted if I have iCloud backup?

I have some problem with mine as well.. I didnt use any case or anything at all put sometime when I press nothing happen

It's a common problem. I brought mine back to M1 and was given a replacement immediately, no questions asked.

Before that. do a full backup to your PC. Then restore the image back onto the new phone. 99% of your settings should be retained. If you bring your laptop there, they can help you with it.

i think mine too, but it's like if u press the slightly to the right, the button is not sensitive at all. So always have to press the left of the lock button instead. Should i go for a replacement? Thanks!

have the same issue. only the left side of the power button is working.

Can use software alternative - Go to Settings->Accessibility->turn on the Assistive Touch

Can try solution posted by another member a while back, can't find the thread now. Worked for my 3GS. Get alcohol pad from pharmacy. Power off phone. Press alcohol pad on home button so alcohol can seep into the phone for a while. Wait for alcohol to evaporate before powering on and testing. As in my case may need to do it for a few cycles.

Hey guys,

Anybody has any issues exchanging the phone due to excessive scratches? My power button doesn't work but my iPhone 5 has lots of scratches. Simply because I don't put it in a casing and it's usually with my keys and etc. Would there be any issues if anybody might know?

Just go down with confidence. They will exchange. But make sure its not physically damaged.
