Someone told me they can meal prep with $5 for dinner and still have left over for next day. Is this even realistic?

Raiding NTUC for discount cooked food is one way to score cheap meat. The discount chicken is good for 2-3 meals. Just add blanched veggies and rice for a balanced meal.

1 whole chicken abt $11-12, if you know how to cook can eat for a few days, then can throw in potatos, tofu, beans, etc ..ya doable.

See what you cook. Basic ingredients are cheap. If you want organic veggies and wild caught premium fish air flown from new Zealand then expensive lor.

last time i tried before, the chicken i cut into shredded meat, cook rice for next day.
add sweet potato, potato, carrots or sometime green veggies.

temp workplace no canteen or food court, so self prep to save time.

Can cut down even more, frozen chicken $3.50, make the viral no added water chicken soup with nappa cabbage, carrots and apples. 1 pot can serve 4-5 hearty portions for about $2 per portion.

possible. ordered some da bao about 3 to 4 days ago, ended up the meal lasted me for like 3 or 4 meals spread over couple of days.

i attribute that to my reduced appetite.

it may be an isolated incident, but these days I am more particular about getting those pre-cooked meats.

Last 2 weeks has been cooking one meal daily for my family. Well I don’t find it cheap or will save more moolah than eating outside. Depending on what u get. Fresh healthy meat and veg certainly not cheap now. But definitely the portion and quality is better than eating outside cause I use quality oil, seasonings, etc.

Yeah that is a risk. Dump right into freezer, not the fridge.
And minimize the time any portion spends at room temperature.
