The setup is going to generate a lot of heat and noise. So if you are thinking of running this thing discreetly (such as tapping on some free electricity somewhere), then this is a reality check for you too.

is not much of an issue as much as it the heat. Running at about 75c that to in a closed case

Do you know that up until now they havent shipped order from 2011? Their "soon" is even more imba than "Valve time". Good luck waiting.

Anyone can enlighten me what is this Bitcoin thing about ?
I'm still quite lost..

if you are not familar with encryption jargon then this engadget article though lacking detail information would be a good start Engadget Primed: The rise (and rise?) of Bitcoin

i using CGIminer. when it says GPU 0 only is it refering to 1 gpu in the system? it's not refering to the number of threads/gpus right?

Below is my humble opinion that I have for mining of bitcoins in Singapore

In Singapore (ranked 21st in electricity tariff, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electricity_pricing), it is not advisable to even mine with FPGA. If you have any CPU/GPU mining rigs, mine for scrypt coins instead.

As for ASIC for bitcoin, the only feasible device you can buy now is the ASICMiner Erupter USB Miner. It cost about 100SGD and only have 333MH/s which computes to ROI in 5months.
Avalon has missing orders, ButterflyLabs has over 30k backlogs of orders, BitFury & KnCMiner has yet deliver a working ASIC.

I personally have received 2 x 5GH/s miners from Butterfly Labs but my order was Aug 2012. It basically mined back what I spent on these miners in just one month and it uses less than 80watts.

I am currently searching for the ASIC chips (yes, the important thing is the chip itself), then I will find some PCB developers to develop a board for it and maybe we can have the first ASIC selling in Singapore :s13:

When calculating Return-on-Investment (ROI) with Mining Gear, it is important to calculate based on BTC rather than real dollar.

Using Butterfly Lab Jalapeno 5GH/s machine for illustration: the price of BTC in Aug 2012 was about US$9. Hence a machine at US$149 back then would translate to about 16 BTC or 18 BTC including shipping fee.

Moving forward to July 2013. If we receive the 5GH/s machine last month, the max life time earning of the machine is only 15 BTC (assuming a 12% network difficulty growth every 2 weeks, the actual growth rate recently is much higher than 12%)

For those who ordered Sep/Oct 2012 and only receiving the machine this month, the max life time earning is only 11 BTC.

Hence, while it feels shiok to buy a machine at US$149 and get a ROI in 1 month (in term of dollar value), we would have made more if we bought and hold the same amount of BTC.

Alternatively, as there are many people who don't really understand ROI models, auctioning/selling the machine now at 18-20 BTC will also give you better profit then continuing mining with the machine for the next 2-3 years.
