My iphone SE had its camera removed due to work. Is it still possible to request for a change of battery?

For those interested... Here goes...

During my Genius Bar Appointment, did a diagnostic and the battery shows Normal too (I just got a replacement iPhone 6+ on Jan 2017 BUT it is super duper laggy). I asked how long will it take and she says 2-3 hours, however, no stock, so gotta wait 5-7 Days for stock to arrive, then Apple will call you to make an appointment to head down for the Battery replacement. Also, the staff told me that I have the whole of 2018 to decide, and if i want to replace, just re-book another Genius Bar Appt.

Replacement fee she confirms it will cost $38.

seems like that is the case. but I don't see why they should limit it to a year if say somehow your phone can last much longer than that (up till they officially discontinue any servicing for the product by categorising it as obsolete) and you have another round of depleted battery.

That’s true. But in this case shouldn’t it be logical to assume that the privilege is only extended to affected users with genuine wear and tear below expected levels?

I don’t think all users are affected by the slow down since it depends on the condition of battery, and that means not all get the 38 dollars privilege?

Only Apple can tell you if one qualifies or not while it won’t extend the blanket offer to all phones..

This is not the 1st time apple did battery replacement la.

Last time i had my ipod nano battery replaCed for free. The best part, this was done when nano3 was released.

The amount u paid for yr iphone, probably can replaCe whole iphone liao.

If not mistaken, it should be within 2-3 hours but that depends on the crowd and number of people doing the battery replacements.

Apple called me told me stocks for batt Is In today and they managed to change for me gonna collect my phone tomorrow.

okay this question every one is asking and every one is replying, no one bothers to read what we all replied.

whether is it 80 % or what, that is just one criteria, apple looks at other conditions of the battery to compute a score for the battery health, which in turn decided by software whether or not this battery needs to be replaced.

According to latest issue press release, apple acknowledged the issue and is now offering a replacement of battery for out of warranty products in concern at a reduced price. So your battery must first be tested against the software which apple service centre has, before you can replace it at $38.

Soon enough, apple will introduce a feature in iOS which you can see the insights of your battery so that you know or not your battery needs to be replaced, without making a trip down to run the software at service centre or genius bar..

even if it passed the test, u can still have it replaced for $38

No one knows. Even if they tell you it's new and you find out it's not, what can you do? Sue them?

What do you mean no one knows? Go back two pages. There is a diagnostic check performed AFTER the swap to show you the battery has 0 cycles on it. It's a valid question with a simple answer.

Remember you are paying for this. It has to be new. If through some error it wasn't, request them to change again.

SIM yes. They will take out and pass back to you when you drop off the phone. Screen protector I've no idea.

actually if one wants to be cynical, can also start doubting whether they have zhng the software to show that it is indeed 0 cycles ma. lol

U can take back the screen protector if u want if not they will remove and throw away. They will need to remove the screen to replace the batt

When I replaced my screen due to spoiled pixel issue I had to remove my screen protector. SIM card definitely will return and you keep. But this was for a A Lab.

I would also like to know if just replace battery (for this battery replacement exercise at reduced pricing) at apple store or authorised apple service providers will they ask you to remove screen protector as well?

I checked with them on the spot if there r any diagnostics checks on the new batt, they won't show u any diagnostic checks but they will bring out a box and show u your old battery inside.

That was what I asked but they told me they have no old batt around all will be kept backend and sent lol they will show u yrs only
