Regarding side loading of Kodi ... been trying again to do for friend.

Been following same instructions ... http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-sideload-install-kodi-on-apple-tv-4/

But Xcode always have "App installation failed"- A valid provisioning profile for this executable was not found.

Odd considering my iOS app signer provisioning profile is the same as the one i created in Xcode.

Where could i have gone wrong?

Couple of things ...

There was a change with an update to tvOS. What's the version of the signer app you are using? Should be R1.7 or later (I think the latest is 1.8).

Secondly, I believe the itunes account you use to generate the profile should match the one your friend uses to sign in on the AppleTV. If you are trying to use your profile, don't. Generate another with your friend's ID.

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=245978

Better instructions..

Oh no .. i've been using my own itunes account to sideload for a couple of sets already .. :s11: Actually in my account now, there are alot of provisioning profiles under my acc.

1. If i were to use my friend's account for the side load, that would mean i need to create certificate for him also?

Tell me what went wrong when i setting up the new Apple Tv. I've watched and read the vids couple of times.

1. Using my own account, i setup the new box
2. Then in Xcode
- New tvOS - Single View Application
- Key in any Product Name (e.g., KODI)
- Key in any Organization Identifier (e.g.com.Peanut)
- On the DEVICE panel, i choose my connected Apple TV
- Choose my own Personal Team

3. Then in iOS App Signer
- Browse to find the downloaded deb file
- Signing Certificate = is my own iPhone Developer account
- Provisioning Profile = i scroll down to choose "com.Peanut.KODI"

4. Going back to Xcode ..
- Click on Windows then Devices
- Then add ipa file.

Sounds to me like the provisioning profile is the wrong one. How many are listed under the iOS App Signer? Either trial and error with each one, or delete them all from your mac (close Xcode, then go here with Finder n delete all ... ~/Library/MobileDevice/Provisioning Profiles) and start again.

Also, you didn't mention anything about the app groups. While it is not the cause of the problem you are having, the top shelf feature won't work unless you enable App Groups and add the group name in there. Switch App Groups ON under the capabilities tab, then click the + in the app group and add group.xxxxxx where xxxxxx is the full bundle id from the general tab.

Thanks mate. That worked very well, solved my problem.

I actually have created about 20 provisioning profiles. Anyway to delete them permanently? As in remove their records? Cos under the "Accounts" info, i can actually still download them.

Great to hear it is now working :)

In terms of permanently deleting them, I thought removing them from the finder would do it, but you are right, they are still listed under accounts allowing you to redownload them. Even if they are expired! Hmmm

so sad that now the sideloaded apps on tvOS now lasts only 7 days..

apparently Apple has changed the rules for their free developer accounts..
