I think someone asked about the quality of CAST on Apple TV. I’ve been using Apple TV for Netflix, VIU, Toggle and CAST. So far loving it. The CAST quality is ok and seldom lag. But the audio can be slightly out of sync, which is not a problem when watching soccer.

Just a heads-up. SingTel Cast is opening it’s channels FOC till 3Jan (started on 23Dec). Can go try native on Apple TV with yr free account.

Yes that is good.

The good thing is also SingTel Cast is not blocked in China. So I am able to watch SingTel Cast in China.

SingTel TV Go, Toggle and Starhub Go are blocked in China.

Anyway to watch Astro sports?

If you have Astro Go subscription, try use a Malaysia VPN. But take note Astro is actively blocking VPN. The best is to get a friend there to set up a VPN server on the home router. Then you can set up the VPN client on your home router to use Apple TV to access the contents.

I am in China now, I have not been able to find a way to watch Toggle and SingTel TV Go myself because the Singapore VPN server IP addresses are blocked (they just need to block data center IP addresses).

SingTel Cast is not blocked so I can watch SingTel Cast contents in China.

Agree with you bro. The Apple TV is a streaming media player, which means it lets you watch videos, listen to music, play games, and use other types of apps from the Internet on your TV. The Apple TV supports 4K Ultra HD and HDR video. It has 32GB and 64GB options, but are otherwise identical.

Still waiting for any form of news on the Apple TV refresh.

Actually Apple may even discontinue the Apple TV and instead focusing to establish partnership with leading TV vendors to bundle Apple TV app (and Airplay 2) on the TV.

In fact the cheap Roku devices and Amazon FireTV devices already support Apple TV+ services.

I think Apple may just continue to sell Apple TV 4k. They may come out with new device but not anytime soon. Improvement could be supported of 8k and HDMI 2.1.

I have doubt on the success of Apple Arcade.

I bought Apple TV 3rd gen many years ago and it is still working but I only used it for Airplay. I do not feel the need to buy Apple TV 4k myself. Instead I bought a cheap Mi Box S at S$61 which arguably is a better device than Apple TV 4k for many streaming apps in Singapore.

And the cheap Amazon FireTV 4K now supports Apple TV+.

So it is difficult to justify buying Apple TV 4K now for streaming services. So you are right the main reason for Apple to upgrade the HW is mainly for gaming.

However, it is hard to compete with Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.

I am not a gamer but I just bought an Xbox One S recently at S$299 with one extra controller. Xbox Game Pass is also not expensive. And I found Xbox One S to be very good for media streaming apps as well.

Well said. Well, not too sure if yr purchase of the Xbox is a worthwhile purchase though. Considering it’s lack of decent games. But that’s my opinion cos I’m still using my Playstation a lot.

Haha, it is an impulse buy. Just to spend a bit after getting the year end bonus (very little this year). I do not even plan to buy any games on the Xbox (may pay US$1 for the three months game pass offer), unlike last time for Wii (I did spend quite a bit on the Wii last time, more than S$1000 in total, including Wii Fit, dancing mat, extra controllers, over S$150 worth of emulator games, etc).

I also have a working NDS Lite but I have not used it for a while.

Yes I think they will refresh Apple TV because of Apple Arcade. That is a good input from szeli.

Then in terms of streaming, they will also need to catch up on HDMI 2.1 and probably 8k as well (8k is probably not really important).
