If is this case, it is more worth to get when nearing end of 1 year warranty. This is like 3 years. If get when brand new is 2 years.

If you are ok with the knowledge that if you were to accidentally damaged your device during the time it is not covered by AC+, just so that you can drag warranty to 3y, then it might work.

not just manage. but be able to accept the additional cost of repair/replacing the phone, but of course in exchange for not having to spend a cent on buying AC+

Doing a quick search will answer your question.
In summary, AppleCare+ still can be purcahsed from Apple, but needs to be vetted by Apple to be still in pristine condition before being able to successfully proceed with the purchase.

of coz i know AppleCare+ can be purchased from Apple. What i meant is, do we need to buy within 60 days or nearing one yr? Coz the Apple staff told me we need to purchase AppleCare+ within 60 days, but from what i read here, we can still technically buy on the 364th day.

you can.. but it also means that during the first year. your coverage is the basic applecare and not applecare+.

there will be no incidental damage coverage/replacement if your phone gets smashed during the first year.

You are at immense risk if the device is damaged during these 364 days if you do not purchase AC+ within the first 60 days from device activation, since there will be just basic coverage.
Therefore, if your device happen to be damaged in any way, you will be unable to purchase AC+ and costing you for any repairs required.

You can buy AppleCare+ within 60 days easily - the option is available on your settings menu, and simply click thru and pay to get your iPhone automatically covered, no questions asked.

However, if you want to buy it after 60 days, the straightforward buy option is no longer available and you have to drop by an Apple Store and have a staff check your iPhone condition before you're allowed to buy.

If your iPhone is already dented at a corner or screen cracked, then of course you won't be allowed to purchase the AppleCare+

so saying that its better to buy it at 364th day to extend the coverage for a total of 3 years is as good as saying you are young now and dont need to insurance coverage until you are older. in between this period of time, you get cancer you get hospitalised or you die, you get 0 coverage.

And the reason for the delay, I believe its due to not having option to extend coverage to say 3 years, since purchasing on the 60th day will just extend the coverage by just 2 additional months.
Since the system is setup like this, users will have to "game" the system.

my understanding from apple in past experiences which i used to buy regular basis. it depend when you start the applecare.

For example - you start at the beginning of the purchase then technically it goes concurrently with your first year warranty together.

In the past regardless of when you buy the AppleCare, it will expire the day before the 3rd anniversary of the purchase of the phone.

now is the day u buy the AppleCare + 2years

so u can wait till the 60th day then + 2years or whatever

Having an active AC+ coverage on an iPhone makes it more attractive to sell. Some potential buyers look out for Apple products in the resale market that has AC+ since they want that level of insurance. And if the buyer don’t want AC+, you can always reduce the selling price and refund the unused part of AC+.
For me, Apple Watch should have AC+ since I am more likely to accidentally damage my AWU2 than my iPhone or iPad.

the moment you pay money = 2 years AppleCare+

some ppl really will stretch it out..buy AppleCare+ at the 10th mth or what...so at the 10th mth..ur batt health will be around 95%...higher chance to claim the free battery replacement.

Mine 7 months, 284 cycles and already 92%..
