Not just US. Everywhere got people that wont take a vaccine. However you dont need everyone to be vaccinated for covid to disappear. And look at it this way, they already have a headstart as more than 9 million (actual some estimate to be around 20 million) that have already been infected. These people can take one or dont and they will likely be less infectious already.

The vaccine is around USD20 per shot. Well within US or any developed country's budget. Spending money on manufacturing and logistics will fire up their economy as well.

They already announce stuffs like , if you get one today, it is free, if you want one X months later, it will be $1000. Will you take one?

I will. Just hope that Americans would as well. Don't underestimate the stupidity of some Americans.

I have way more confidence that the US will manage COVID-19 better with fewer deaths, if the one at the top takes it seriously and does actual work. Instead of tweeting all day and spreading misinformation about the disease. Sad to say this, but Trump is COVID-19's best friend.

Western countries generally have a lower trust in government, higher trust in their own judgement.

They prize and take pride in personal freedom and don't/can't see the value in social compliance.

Their attitude is that if they should die, they die in the name of freedom (of doing what they please).

And they may even have a sense of bravado ("if i die, i die") and ("what a ****y to wear a mask")

Not all of them are like that, but it only takes a small proportion of such deviants and miscreants for virus to become a contagion.
