So if a hawker or café refuses to take cash, they’re likely in breach of MAS guidelines. You can report such cases to the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) or MAS directly.
notification is key
as long as they notify you b4 products or services rendered, ok

My 14 year old kid wasnt able to buy something when going out with friends cos shop wanted cashless.. End up just didnt buy..

If need to pass her my youtrip it is fine just that its actually more work for the parents to monitor/control..
Cashless payment is suppose to make it easier for everyone but doesnt feel that way.
I only discovered the ocbc teens Acct this year. It's called MyOwn card. So it was very welcoming to both me and my dotter.

She gets to put her cash savings in and generate the responsibility in handling her own cash matters. She also gets to feel empowered with the convenience of a debit card when she goes out with her frens.

:s13: machiam gain aura points for her :s13:

This is all becos Sinkapore cocked up since 30 years.
Look at HK and Taipei where so many stores, convenience shops, eateries, supermarkets, pharmacy etc can use Octopus/Easy Card to make payment. No debit card also no problem.

Sinkapore got Ezlink but becos of stupid govt & friends all wanna have a pc of the pie, came up w all diff cards here n there, simple become complicated,
until THIS DAY still so outdated. So embarrassing.

I prefer cash.
Buy pay n go.
No orh-tan nothing, transaction done.
Now is eat pay later.
I dnt like.
Can indirectly overspend.
Cash better.. I also prefer paywave

If that place has bad connectivity for certain telco, then gonna hold up the line

I encountered a few times with the Orange telco in clementi

Actually why boomers so iron teeth about transiting to cashless ah?

In China their cashless transition went pretty fast, the old folks there had no issue with it.

China no problem leh.. even those 80+ years old can use digital payment

dun know why here got problem when we supposed to be more "developed" than china or maybe not?

Because their system use Chinese whereas many old people here don't know English.. hard to learn.. so there's probably a language barrier too..
