Road bike is definitely faster than foldie, because it takes much less effort to spin big wheels compared to small wheels over a long distance.

I have seen very fast foldies before. They cycle with road bikes with no problem.. Tern verge X10, AM TSR9 etc with rolling speed of 40-45 kmh. But then they themselves are very strong riders who can maintain high cadence and push very high gears. But I believe over long distances, road bike will win because it is not so tiring.

usually those are the stronger riders on foldie, if the roadie infront allows, i will draft behind :)

go rodalink and try out 1st. if price difference not much and you happy with them, buy it. Else, buy from crc.

Yeah his portability is to fold and bring i shopping malls -_- just cos it's more convenient unlike his road bike. Told him to buy a cheap foldie instead, problem solved. But he decide to sell his roadie to fund this foldie.

Where is bru? at mbs?

Tern is heavier, folds faster but the width is wider after folding. Weight limit is 110kg.

Tyrell FSX is lighter, folds slower and more complicated, slightly taller but width is smaller. Weight limit is lower (was told its 80-90kg max).

Speed wise... Tyrell geometry, aero frame and lightweight will have an advantage. But X18 uses capreo, so at the highest gear (which very few ppl can actually use), x18 53/9>>56/11 for fsx.

Personally, I actually prefer tyrell after test ride. As there is no mid frame folding hinge, the vibration is lesser and more comfortable.

If he wants to buy a foldie and roll into shopping center, just get a brompton. Full stop.

Got fizik r5b from bike24. below 200 too. Imo it's stiff and fits good although not cf sole

BRU and MBS are LBS (local bike shop), but I think MBS only sell Tyrell FX, so better if your friend head to BRU for FSX

and yes, if portability is that important, just get a Brompton, but ur friend wouldnt be too happy and start to compare with his roadie. Brompton FTW for ease of mobility

You need it to be portable?

I personally prefer floor pump. Very easy to pump to high psi.
