Seriously I know nuts about all these technical stuff like folding etc. But I read somewhere in this thread like the post handler may bend or slip when climbing uphill. Could you comment on the crius velocity II if the handle post bar would have the same challenge if I attempt uphill climbing? :o

the design is like those kind that if you fold the bike, the handlebar will flop downwards, i dont think it will drop. only thing that might drop is the seat, especially if the clamp is lousy type.

They are using litepro. Looks sturdy but I do not know if it really that durable? :o:(

The price looks attractive and reasonable given the specification though I hardly know them how useful or relevant in actuality. :o Also look into youtube for crius and seems decent ride. But seriously I need you guys expert to advice and input if this crius is worthy to purchase. :o

What do you plan on doing? As in, what sort of riding are you contemplating and where?

actually i wonder what are the differences for foldies.... why some are faster then others :s22:

the geometry? frame stiffness? gearing?

personally, tire pressure makes quite a lot of difference....
i think smaller wheels bikes are more aero, but then small wheels and potholes not a good idea

Any idea where I can get the replacement nut? :(

I am pretty sure that the bike will be fine for distances of around 50 kms per day in Singapore.

I don't know anything about the longevity or durability of the components. I do know that the brakes are pretty good because I have the same brand if not model on my bike. They're a bit vague on that.

I would hesitate to ride this bike on any sort of tour in Malaysia or Taiwan. I've biked in Malaysia and the roads there are much rougher than in SG. I've never biked in Taiwan but they have some pretty steep hills there and I don't know if the gearing on this bike would be good for those hills.

So, it's a decent bike for SG. Frankly, I would not bother upgrading parts. When you buy a bike, get the best parts you can afford/want rather than waste time and money later on upgrading it.

ya i think so too, cos the frontal area is smaller

Probably frame stiffness and tyre pressure. Also, the closer you are sitting, relative to the bottom bracket, means that you can put more power to the pedals.

Visualise it as stomping down on something when you're directly over it, vs stomping down while you're some distance away from it.

Probably also why, if neglecting aerodynamics, time trial bikes are faster than road bikes.

if geometry is the key, why dun just most manufacturer just make the "most efficient" geometry? becos there is no benefit in deliberately making lousy geometry (even if u are selling it cheaply):s22:

i mean for same types of bikes, example foldie.

anyway moi hate foldies, the only types that can support moi 100kg weight are those super expensive huans :s22:

as for stiffness i think this is the only difference between bicycles bah....

the rest of component can anyhow upgrade lolx

The price of a bike is generally set based on 2 major factors.

First, the brand/decal/ frame
For instance, sworks vs polygon

Second, the components/ part
For instance, Claris vs dura ace

If u are rich don't worry just get the sworks n dura ace combination

However a lot of ppl fall into the second group whereby u are force to choose only 1 of the better choice and get the inferior choice from the 2nd group.

lets forces on the 2nd mentality group whereby u are not so rich.

Would u get a branded frame with cheaper components and upgrade the components when u have the extra money in future?
Many ppl thinks that is easier to change the parts than change the whole frame which is true.

Or would u get a cheaper brand but decent review but with good components like dura clanks actually work very hard for u n its smooth n flawless shifter /derailer while u cycle than the decal that give u the saki or the legendary stiffness of sworks frame that saves u miligrams of energy?

Food for thoughts

You look at the frame thickness of Aleoca folding bicycle. The frame design is copied and use high tensile steel.

Then you take a look at say... Brompton folding bike. Compare the diameter of the tube and frame with Aleoca. Brompton can support rider weight up to 120kg with a tiny weeny steel frame.

Why does aleoca need such a big thick steel frame? Dahon Boardwalk has a very slim frame and still support 110kg weight limit.

That's poor engineering and material wastage if you ask me.

There is no such thing as efficient geometry. This is very evident for folding bicycle. The geometry constraints for folding bicycle exists due to the folding requirements. If you ever have a brompton, you will know you can't even anyhow add accessories on your brompton as it will interfere with the fold.

For speed, riding ergonomics and stability best suited for the person, a bike fitting is required. Again, other than Bike friday, no other folding bicycle have the luxury of bike fitting. Road bikes normally have bike fitting well suited to the rider.

As for folding bicycle price, due to its patents, limited quantities, the price is naturally higher than similar mini velos.

Don't know abt others but I not keen in paying extra for folding patents n high demand /Low supply of folding bikes.

I like bang for buck and I also like to make bicycle makers have a run for my money :(
