Between the Dahon Speed D8 and Visc P18, which is a better built? For long distance with minimal maintenance. Or shall I top up and get the Moulton?

Define "long distance"?

The Moulton is a whole different animal from the Dahons, methinks.

Been two months since i gotten my tern foldie and have been riding around PCNs at least once weekly. However, I realised my wrists feel quite strained especially if i ride for more than an hour and my butt feels quite sore. Is this just a matter of getting used to or should i really look into changing my saddle and grips?

Am not an expert but what i did in your case (similar issues)

#1 Get fully covered bike gloves (not fingerless)
#2 Play with height of seat
#3 Downhill raise your butt off seat so would be less sore
#4 Check your sitting bone length vs saddle length (too narrow/wide?)

What is you riding position? And which Tern model are you riding?

Anyway, most of us have Ergon grips installed. I have Ergon GP5 installed on my Tern, and Ergon GP3 on my Brompton.

I did a 128km round island with my Tern on May.

This is the reward.

As some of you guys know, I got a S6R 6-speed Brompton last month and the longest cycling distance clocked was just 45km.

So I decided to cycle slightly longer last Friday night.

Starting point-- Bishan Mac

Yes, its the Brompton round island ride. The distance is somewhat shorter as Neo Tiew and LCK were skipped.

Total distance:

Plus to and fro from home, the total distance is about 116km.

Its way more tiring than cycling on Tern due to the limited Brompton gearing. The incremental between the gears are very large and it is difficult to maintain cadence at a suitable gear.

Lidat hour many hours, avrg speed ?

I don't think it is accurate. Cuz we all cycled as a group. There was a lot of stoppage due to tyre puncture. Many times, we cycled and could wait for 20 min for others to catch up.

We were going at about 16-18kmh along Mandai slopes, about 26-28 along West Coast, Marina/GBTB, Seletar, and about 20-22 along ECP/Changi Coastal due to strong head-on wind. And towards the final 10km at Upper Thomson, there was heavy rain and we were all going at 14-16kmh due to slippery road.

We started at 2130 from Bishan Mac anti-clockwise direction, and already cleared Changi Coastal by 0315. But there were two punctures, and a weak rider was suffering from cramp, so we left CV at 5.

So the overall average speed was about 19-20 kmh.
