You see, the way you did comparison is quite skewed. It is not an orange to orange comparison, it is like an apple to orange comparison.

When I said a $300 bike is probably a low-end frame with rubbish parts, it is probably those Hi-Ten Steel or those straight gauge aluminium.

I pretty sure your Polygon is already considered to have a DECENT frame, probably at least a triple-butted aluminium frame or carbon.

I am not saying you are wrong, but even if your engine is powerful.
Will you want to ride a $100 rubbish frame or a decent frame for a round island or race?

Don't say Polygon win Dogma. I can find those 29er MTB riders and I think they can even win some of the luxury-carbon road bikers.

I need a like button for this. Much better than the other kid who straight away challenge ball size when dealing with arguments n talk abt speed all the time

Actually I feel that doing any upgrade or maintenance by yourself is abit therapeutic.

And when you ride, you feel more shiok that you actually 'did' the upgrades and maintenance.

BUT the tools are a real pain. And don't ever start working on it without first having the proper tools. And I do agree a work stand really makes things much easier.

In time to come I'll be swapping cranks ,grips ,BB , brake rotors and finally wheelset. But I think it'll be over a 3 year span. Lol.

All the more, u should understand that legs n stamina is the main factor since ur putting in so much effort to these ? Noticed that I didn't said "I win ALL dogma", heck I didn't even generalised "dogma" n even indicated "some" dogma that shows I'm not trying to show off at all.

But I noticed luxury rider tends to push themselves really hard than others when riding at certain finishing segments maybe trying very hard to justify their purchase. U know how it feels when u lose while having the best bike in town? So generally it's safe to say that they seldom lose in a ride easily =)

Ever since I began noticed this thread and have been following it since I know u are a good rider with decent or maybe good speed and u always helping people with enquiries n sharing staffs but the ball size challenge really changed my opinion of u.

Cny leh... forgive n forget lah. We are in the same hobby afterall.

I dont really favour the comparison example xb made as it wasn't well explained or sounded a little show off, but we got his drift eventually. Text and wordings are often misunderstood too. Perhaps that's why sn made a remark out of it, which i dont blame him totally. Maybe he just came back from a long ride, a bit hot. But I still give him my due respect for his knowledge, skills, diligence and sharing.

Xb should just let it go and not talking about balls already. This only sour things further. We understand u r just trying to illustrate something to share with us, with good intention of course. We appreciate it as well.

Hope after this post no more personal attack on this issue.

Nothing therapeutic about doing the upgrades/maintenance, infact, you get frustrated and stuff :p. I think the right word here is Satisfaction. You also learn thru trial and errors what you should and shouldn't do.

Cycling on the other hand is therapeutic, the wind in the face, sweat, aches :s12::s13:

Aiyo... everyone take a chill pill. No one is born equal... just on a certain level of physique. Take TDF for example, when everyone is equally fit, the only thing that plays a part is strategy and equipment.

Not really a simple 90% physical, 10% bike logic, there are more things in play. Give a weak rider a Pina and he is still a weak rider, give a strong rider a pigeon bike and he is still a strong rider with a lousy bike.. comparison is not exactly a fair one.

relax people... enjoy your rides

Wait till u progress to recabling and stuff.

Your stock bb should have some sizing engraved on the bb itself.
If u talk about hollow tech, it is shimano system, but then there is no such thing as a hollow tech bb.
Bb comes in many system (eg, BSA, GXP, BB30.... Etc too many to list out). For BB, it is the type of crank u are using and the diameter/length of the bb shaft.
