Talking about neo tiew, i had a puncture on my Brompton rear tyre last Friday night at 1230am midnight.-_-

No taxi, no cars.. In the end, my dad had to fetch me home. Luckily he wasn't sleep yet.

The roads are very rough.. Normally will avoid using neo tiew unless it's really necessary.

neo tiew very hulu, no cab will go there one. even i got spare tube, i wont stop there and change. got ghost and stray dogs one.... u damn suay got a flat there.

No choice, daiso got cheap spanner though. But overall brompton tyre is one of the easiest to remove.

But last time army time did many walks thru that area thru the nights. Somehow I quite like the peacefulness inside there, come out to normal more urban roads sian 1/2 liao.:s13::s13:

U ride n punctuated at Neo tieow ard mid night?

Initially wanna cycle western loop last Friday. The route is usually

Amk ave 5==> yck road==> seletar aerospace==> yishun dam==> yishun ave 1/6/7/2==> sembawang road ==> gambas==> Admiralty road west (rest at spc)

Woodlands center road==> woodlands ave 3==> woodlands rd==> kranji/neo tiew==> lck/jalan bahar==> boon lay market (supper)==> boon lay ave==> jalan boon lay/jurong pier==> jalan buroh/west coast/pasir panjang==> telok blangah (rest at spc)==> keppel==> gbtb then loop up via kallang pcn

I must likely kena glass shards at kranji road. Then i realized it at the neo tiew fibua area.

Ok la. As long as you have a 15mm wrench, it can be removed. About 15 min. Most igh, except rohloff, have to be removed using wrench... No quick release.

The roads at kranji are extremely rough and littered with small potholes.

From woodlands road, you turn into kranji.. That stretch all the way before turning left.. The road is fugging rough. I suspect i kena glass shard there.

After turning left and reaching the first bus stop, the road will be smooth.

But then once hit the kranji dam, neo tiew road starts to be rough again.

Yeah I know when u mean before the first left u are taking...

So for west siders u guys would recommend to go Mandai , Mandai dam then u-turn back? I'm staying at Bukit Panjang and I'm targeting only 35 km plus minus for my night 1 man ride. In term of road smoothness and traffic safety.

My brompton is fitted with schwalbe kojak tyres.

Apparently, these have "raceguard protection belt" as indicated in the schwalbe website but can't even withstand a 3mm glass shard. :s22:

Maybe next time i try this new tyres for brompton:

Velotto Fantome Mini Black for Brompton

It has a width of 28-349... narrower than schwalbe kojak of 32-349.

Just hope the comfort level is there. I find kojak really the perfect match between speed and comfort... but kinda disappointed with the puncture resistant.

406 wheels expert pls advise.

I am looking to further reduce the weight of my foldie by changing the tyres.

I am now using kenda ksmart 20 x 1.25 which i cannot find the weight online.

At the moment i am only comfortable with 1.25 width. Any narrower will be a tough decision for me. As far as possible i do not wish to use kojak since i don't always ride on road and sometimes riding on patches of water.

Do let me know if there's any lightweight options. Thanks

No point reducing weight of yr tyre, not gg to give u much savings. For weight lost, ppl normally target to wheelset, handlebars, seat post, saddle, pedals and etc.. Reducing on accessories also help too

I only clocked 200-300km on my B :o, and just the other day, I pump up the tyre, rode around my estate to test the new speedplay cleat only to discover a flat in my front wheel the next day.......

I stay cck. short rides usually go to lck thru the old lck rd home team academy there then lck road then u turn at the end of the road runway. weekends usually mandai to yishun dam to punggol park. if more on will go to ecp then barrage, gbtb then west coast road to woodlands road back.

The B is too slow for my liking but I still want a bike that I could bring along for a oversea bike trip... It is a white elephant but fortunately the fold is small
