Don't think you can do a job which is in competition with your employer.

Got a few questions,

1)if a person has really lousy qualifications(private diploma only) but has really good experience in a bank(more than 5 years) and used to draw more than 50k PA. Is it hard to find another job in a bank? Non sales related by the way.

2) if it's not hard, where would u recommend the person to look for jobs?

Depends on whether the job you are doing is in demand

Work in compliance? No problem finding a job

Work in Operations? A bit harder

2) Usual job portals, linkedin, etc

are people with engineering degree highly sought out? meaning to say, what are the % (if any) of your clients who are looking for people with engineering degree and/or working experience?

Nope it is not competition. In fact it is common in the market. but i'd like to know from your professional opinion how much daily rate i should be asking for if my current rate is 4k*12.

Are references necessary?

Also, will headhunter break up a match to gain higher commission?

1 and 2.
No, but depends in the job you applying for. Eg: You last time Accounting manager, and you convicted of crime of embezzlement.

3) No. But we outsource it to other companies to do it. The most famous company who does this is First Advantage.

4) Companies use first advantage. Trust me, they are very good. They will literally dig out everything about you.

Yes i wa kenna by this First Adv when i worked in Barcap. I did not declare A 2 months gap in my work experience and they found out about it. Fortunately barcap doesn't really mind the reason why i did not mention it in my cv.

This is what im trying to tell to edmwers that 99% of working in banks are legits whether FT or Sinkie.

One more question.

Rank in bank can be very different from one bank to another.
example, an AVP in bank A can actually be a managerial role but in Bank B it can be a much bigger role.

When applying, how to avoid a case whereby one is underqualified or overqualified for the job they are applying for. By looking at jobscope and salary expectation?

So I'm assuming an MBA would give some sort of advantage ?

:s11::s11::s11:

Yes. But only if you apply for higher level positions.

If you apply for lateral positions MBA might be a disadvantage

are people with engineering degree highly sought out? meaning to say, what are the % (if any) of your clients who are looking for people with engineering degree and/or working experience?

Yes. But only engineering people who have top academic results (especially in the finance sector)

Yes operations. Have u seen one being employed before?

Yes. But usually only for the local banks. But most are based in Changi

Nope it is not competition. In fact it is common in the market. but i'd like to know from your professional opinion how much daily rate i should be asking for if my current rate is 4k*12.

Not sure. I am not a salary expert.

Are references necessary?

Also, will headhunter break up a match to gain higher commission?

Yes. References are important. A lot of employers will not offer you if no reference check is done.

Define break up a match? :s11:

so to say, engineers with lousy/average academic results will most likely not be headhunted? regardless of the sector...

Quick question to TS..

What's the job prospects of someone who have 7 years of experience in Fortune 500 companies before transferring to a local SME to set up and head their first overseas subsidiary in a third world country?

Will this person end up becoming irrelevant in the local job market because (i) his most recent employer is an SME, and (ii) his overseas exposure is in a third world country?

Thanks.

Depends on whether the nature of your job is reactive to changes or not.

Some jobs (like accounting) will never change but some jobs (like regulations) will change every year and you need to be up to date

You will be headhunted, regardless of academic results, if you have good, relevant working experience in relation to the job you are applying for.

No. HR will almost always see work experience first, then salary then qualifications (most of the time)

then in this case, for a non degree holder with good working experience, will getting a degree actually help to negotiate a better pay rise be it internally or externally?
