Can you share more about how the salary being offered is determined? Eg if the company tells you their max budget for a role is 100k, you found a suitable candidate who's underpaid and drawing only 50k. Is the salary that's being offered to this guy pegged at a percentage increment of the last drawn and then subjected to further negotiation? Thanks!

wow thanks for the prompt respond.

let's say from a MAS reporting role, is there any chance for me to get into a Financial Analyst role without prior relevant experience? Will a CFA actually help?

No. But there are companies that do it. They are called Rec to Rec (or Rec2Rec)

What are some of the things you look for when picking out potential candidates for your clients?
Qualifications? Work experience?

And how do you rank the importance of the listed criteria? Do alot of big companies look at qualifications more or work experience?

As for post which requires the person to take on management responsibilities, or make decisions themselves, how do you know if the person is capable of doing so? A call to the person's head, or just by looking at the person's past records?

Thanks for replying.
Semi-serious question.

There used to be this urban legend floating around about how a consultant went to a company (I think IBM) to improve their processes. Apparently, in his report to the boss, he mentioned that everything looked good, but that "there was this one guy in an office, and everytime I looked in on him, he had his feet on his desk and seemed to be staring into space. If you want to improve your processes, firing him would be a good start."
To which the boss replied, that man once had an idea that saved the company billions of dollars. When he had that idea his feet were right there on his desk as they are now.

So my question is...
Really got this type of job or not? (Sit there and think of how to save company money.)
How to apply? :s12::s12::s12:

Got...last time I intern for this job haha
But only save coy10ish k haha(expected cost)

A bit complicated so let me explain.

Let's say if job requires person to have criteria A, B, C, D and E

The HR will determine how many of the criteria from A to E you tick. The more ticks you get the higher your salary offer.

They will also have this thing called internal equity.

Let's say you have 3 years relevant experience. The HR will then look at everyone in his department, how many years exp, and how much they are paid, and compare with you.

Yes. But mostly going to be thru internal rotation or contract unfortunately cos the criteria is more relaxed.

A lot of companies in Singapore don't like Ang Mo Headhunter.

In fact they give the industry a bad name.

I got one client, who always specifically say only request to hire Singaporeans but the Ang Mo Headhunter always send them foreigners only until the client not happy.
This is very funny because recruiters (headhunter is BS term lah) will always try to find in their opinion the best match for company's budget. Since most SG companies are cheapo no local meet their budget hence foreigners only. Like my company apart from ITE entry level recently all hires are foreigner from country up North.

In order of importance
1) work experience
2) qualifications
3) nationality
4) current salary/expected salary

Past track records

Why after headhunter ask me to be their friend on linkedin, sell me a jobscope, ask for resume and then no sound no picture?

Its like a one night stand, I wake up the person left.

Nope. If the person is really good, the company can pay more (usually 10k to 20k per annum more)

Because the person you are dealing with is lousy. :s12:

Its like eating at Macdonalds vs eating at high class restaurant. Technically both are eating places, but the prices are different and service standards also different

Not just degree. Can be ACCA for example as a replacement for degree

1) Go for smaller companies
2) Be open to contract jobs
3) negotiable on salary

It's not C level maybe mid-level grunt job with 0 prospect for progression and probably A-Z list of requirements and maybe budget of fresh grad type. So yes I would say this position very hard to fill since they took close to 1 year to fill it with a foreigner. My company is MNC from country in East Asia. Those who recognise my nick knows what kind and probably even the company name so I won't want to reveal too much.
