Actually the cohort of math major is bigger than stats major in nus iirc. n there are more math major from ntu as well (they have stats specialization... but i think they have too much math to be really consider as stats grad).

btw I applied for DOS. But guess i was too early. They 'kept for reference' me :( was wondering where stats grad usually gain employment in the private sector. Apart from healthcare n civil service, didn't see much ad from other industry.

mostly moe :s13:

No the person would not be asked to go. And if the person is asked to go then that company is not worth working for anyways

Not really. I would say it is about the same.

I know of people who entered directly. Some graduated from local uni's and some graduate from Australia with no ACCA.

When an employee is hired through a recruitment agency...where his payroll and medical is also handled by the agency....
what is the cost charged to the company...for recruitment and monthly...

Depends on size of company.

Typically they charge the client an additional 10 to 15% on top of your salary (including all costs like CPF, etc)

If you see a person asking for too much in increment, do you just look for another candidate or persuade the person to lower his expectation?

check who their managers are and speak with them.

If they don't provide their managers contact details means the person has something to hide and its not a good candidate.

I will tell the client usually up front, what is the person's expected salary and leave it to the client if he wants to interview the guy after knowing the expected salary.

If the candidate loses the job interview due to his expectations, then too bad.
I will then try to find a company that is willing to pay his expected salary.

I usually won't negotiate with the candidate unless it is unrealistic (like 50% pay hike)

Usually i will send minimum 3 candidates to the client and let them decide

I have a question regarding what you said about first advantage. You mentioned they are able to big data about your cpf contributions and ns history, both which are confidential and should not be publicly available unless provided by the candidates themselves. Are they breaking the law?

Not sure how they work, after all they are a private company.

But i am pretty sure they are aware of this.

Regarding AML/compliance roles in banks, is it necessary to have a banking or finance related degree in order to get in? Can business related degrees make the cut?

Not required, but it is ideal if you have a banking or finance related degree.
