Simple.

In the market there are 3 types of people usually

1) Those that are very actively looking for a job. Always scan job ads, etc. Have some relevant experience
2) Those that are open to look for job, but not active. Don't scan job ads, etc. Got good relevant experience
3) Those that are actively looking for job, but don't have relevant experience.

A typical complain is, when companies post a job ad, got 100 people apply, but only 1 person is suitable.

But a lot of HR people don't have time to see every single cv in order to get to that one person. Imagine if that person who applied is the 100th person.

Because they also do
1) Payroll
2) Compensation and benefits
3) Other duties

Thus
1) They help the company save time so they can do other things
2) They help the company get the best people to join them (because usually the best people are those who are not very actively looking for jobs)

Remember, time is a finite resource

What's the definition of job hopper?

Already explained few pages back

Specialized, but not too specialized
Regardless of industry
Scope must be something which few people can do, but is in high demand.
Any senior executive to mid management level

What's the usual HR procedure after the candidate was selected for the job? HR submit to upstairs for the approval then contact the candidate after it has been approved by upstairs? Reason I asked because I encountered a very weird situation when I was selected for the position. Just asking only, kinda curious.

After HR round.

HR will consult with hiring manager to confirm which candidate to hire.

HR will consult with recruiter on salary to offer (taking into account job history, internal equity, etc)

HR will trigger sign off. Depends on size of organization. So hiring manager sign approval, then his boss, then big boss, etc, then head of HR will sign off.

Only after all approvals done then the actual contract will be generated.

What if it's not going through any recruiter ? Will the HR inform the candidate that he has been selected and now only waiting for big boss approval? I think this way sounds wrong what if at the last minute it has been disapproved and the candidate forego another job opportunity?

If not through recruiter.

The HR will directly call the candidate, ask the candidate his expected salary, then go back and do some numbers crunching

Then the HR will call the candidate with the final figure (including telling him the benefits, etc) do note that this figure may or may not be the candidate's expected salary (might be less)

Once the candidate accepts, then the same process - sign off is triggered (usually takes 1 to 2 weeks), once all sign off finish, then the physical contract is given to the candidate to sign

for jobless people, firms in Singapore will discriminate you the same way they discriminate someone with a
criminal record.

they won't tell you upfront but thats just the way it is

1. looking for internship. How to source for internship on own? school's list not so nice, so I keep as backup.

2. Also is taking a $600 internship worth it or just aim for $800 or more?

3. If I apply for more than 1 internship in MNC can the HR see or is it diff HR for each. cos from their point of view might seem like I just whacking all job postings.

also hard to say i am passionate about finance if they know I also applied hr job.....

any other advice regarding internships or what employers look for in intern. sorry ah, all the career sessions in school regarding job search booked up.......

thank you
