Is it normal for HR to lowball?

Asked for 20% .... Hr says if I accept 10% the offer is ready for immediate signing..

If want 20%..must seek additional approvals ..

Means what?

For MNC they won't lowball you for no reason

For salary offer (and how HR comes up with that number).

I posted it somewhere in the previous pages.

They will basically take into account your job history, internal equity, etc.

when you message someone on linkedln for an experienced role, do you do it to basically everyone who hits your keywords or only those who have a chance of getting it?

At any one point of time, i will recruit for 8 to 10 jobs.

And most of the jobs are pretty similar (60%)

So usually i will reach out to those that hit my keywords

Because if the candidate is not suitable for job 1, he might be suitable for job 2, or 3, or 4, etc.

I will only know after speaking with him

Depends on how you convey the message initially.

Lets say you say you expect 4k and you get 3.5k then yes it is fine

But if you say you expect 4k then they give you 4k then you change your mind say 4.5k then it is another matter.

what if their offer is on a 12mth basis? and my expected salary was based on the assumption that there is AWS?

So, should expected salary be based on 12mths basic or 13mths package annualized?

Any increment will be a percentage of your annual salary and not your monthly salary.

Unless the HR is a fresh grad or is inexperienced. :s22:

if i have a side business do i need to declare to the interviewer/company?
(side business has no conflict of interest, will not interfere with day job)

Yes per annum ideally. If not then just say your expected is (monthly figure) based on 12 months

Not that i know of, unless you are competing with the company.

they gimme 20% increment but talk till got tiger got dragon when i ask for slightly more :(
say very good liao, etc...

isn't HH suppose to help us to get more juice from the company since they are getting a cut from the annual salary package? or HH/recruiter will work with the MNC to low ball you then they can additional bonus for bring down the salary?

1) If company cannot pay, means they cannot pay. Eg: If the max they can pay the person is 5k, means it is 5k. No room for negotiation even if the candidate is super good.

2) Depends on context. Did you ask for increment after they met your expected salary? Lets say you earn 3k, you ask for 4k, but after they give you 4k then you think think then say want 4.5k

No we don't get additional bonus for lowballing. But remember that if a company cannot pay, means cannot pay.

There are many lousy recruiter out there. Lower salary means faster to close the deal. If negotiate means delay and maybe employer will go for other candidate under another recruiter. From what I observed usually the hiring company does not restrict themselves to one agency.

No a lot of things in public sector not applicable.

Unless you

1) Work in a similar setup. (Eg: From Temasek holdings or GIC to work in a bank)

2) Job you apply for is more or less exactly the same

This is also true to a certain extent.

public sector only valued if you have some specialised knowledge or good network to help the company sell their service/product to public sector

TS have you heard of the a recruitment agency called Achieve Group? They seem to be into Telco and IT jobs.

Any headhunting agency to recommend for Telco/IT jobs?

confirm can pay la
i entered as a noob level of this specific job

i clearly wanted a price, but they offered slightly lower by 400 or so .. still remember.. the rational behind this low ball is because there's a bonus component which is based on 70/30

end up talk so much cock, the bonus payout very very little... lucky i run road after that year

best part is the counteroffer only comes in 1 mth later (my tender period is 2 mths). How to reject the new job when it's already 1 mth later, i'm glad that they waited for 2 mths for me....

Japanese is not very useful IMO because not many places can use it.

I think other than Mandarin most languages are negligible.

Yes. i think they are a local company. Not sure about them.

But usually IT and Telco the better agencies are Greythorn, Reed Personnel, Robert Walters, CA Search, and Robert Half

Then it is a problem with the company then
