so local banks and boutique banks?
or just any FI not considered the top 50%...?
Usually boutique banks don't have a MA program.
So your best bet is the local banks
so local banks and boutique banks?
or just any FI not considered the top 50%...?
And why specifically govt sector?
Job market is very good currently, especially in certain industries and certain functions.

Hi Headhunter,If you have already left the previous company, the HR will do the background check, and it will entail them either
1) Calling your past supervisor (of which you have provided the person's contact)
2) Calling the HR dept directly. Do note that due to confidentiality, the HR is only able to say when you joined, when you left, and reason for leaving (Resigned, fired, retrenched, etc), and last drawn salary, nothing else.
A standard reference check entails questions, usually to do with your work performance.
Since your experience is not substantial, it is best not to lie about it, but you must also be truthful to yourself on the actual reason why you got fired,
because even if the company hires you, but 6 months later found out that you got fired (and you lied), the company has a right to terminate your employment with them, even if you have passed your probation. (It has happened before in some companies, where people lied that they were bankrupt, they had a criminal record, etc)
What is the salary like for a entry level(no experience) recruitment consultant?
Do understand that there is a basic pay plus commission. What is the basic pay like?
Talking about agencies like Kelly Services, MCI Career Services and etc.
hi HH,
thank you for starting this thread. Have been reading from the first page.
Very helpful insight.
I understand that you specialize in banking sector. Have been wondering if you know about IT?
how is the current market for IT sector(Programming, like java, web dev) ?
any recommended agency for IT?
Hi Headhunter,
As you know civil servant will have a standard grading for performance each year. Can the public or private hr have an access to this performance grading history? It will make reference check easier if this performance grading is accesible. Eg c grader normal worker, b grader above average.
Thank you.
羊咩咩的天地;98096220 said:Not sure if this qn has been asked before but is it possible for employers to check on detailed full job history if I hide one of my employment?
Reason for me asking this is cos I'm 2 mths in my new job with I have little to no prior experience in but they have unrealistic expectations of what is required of me even though I have already shown my hard work and dedication..I'm thinking of leaving this job out of my CV..which means if I were to resign now..The gap will be 3 mths from my previous employment..and I was given a recommendation from my previous employer so I figured the whole situation will look more favourable compared to leaving this current job after a yr or 2 which will again make me look like a job hopper and reflect badly on me.
Any advices?
Thanks =)
is there a career path for project managers. haven really decided a industry, but biz major....and i want to work of different projects. dunt want a monotonous job where you do same thing for years. any advice??
hi HH,
what should i do if i feel i didn't do very well in previous interview?
my brain kind of freezed at that time, it was supposed to be quite basic technical questions.
it is been few days and still haven't heard back from them.
it was 2nd interview for bulge IB for software developer position.
And what is the salary range for that? 6 years of experience.
Well if you screw up during an interview then that's it (cos in many times you only have one chance to impress them)
For salary range i not sure cos i do not do IT recruitment
Should i give the recruiter a call? the waiting is killing me lol
Hi Headhunter,
I would sincerely appreciate some expert advice from you.
I'm currently working as a Process Engineer in a semiconductor manufacturing industry (my first career) for 6 months and now I am planning to quit due to:
1) Lack of career progression in my company
2) I may become the most senior employee in my engineering team in 1 year time due to shocking turn-over rate. My 2 mentors will tender resignation letter very soon.
3) Heavy workload but low bonus (at most 1 month salary)
Right now I am searching for jobs related to automation system without having relevant experience.
Questions:
1) Will the prospective employer perceive me as a job hopper?
Quitting job after 6 months is certainly not looking too good to my resume but I am taking the risk.
2) What is your opinion on automation system industry?
Warmest regards,
Ahsoon90
Hi AAH,
I'm looking for entry-level midoffice roles in asset research, risk, or model validation
I have a master's in econs but it's not from a tier1 uni, and my work exp is 1-2 years in IT rather than finance. Coursework experience in using R, C#, matlab, stata. very econometrics-heavy but it wasn't a full-blown fineng course.
What are my odds? Where should I be looking? How can I certify/prove my technical skills? I can't build up experience with a bloomberg terminal without access to a bloomberg terminal. I'm open to interning for a bit, but I'm not sure where to look.
I see a lot of quant roles ads that ask for a phd just to start in model validation, that seems very demanding, are those ads just exaggerating?
Hi Headhunter,
Currently just completed my NS. Looking for my first Job. i am looking for a job that is related to the part-time degree i am taking next year July so as to gain experience and expose my-self to the industry. This field have nothing to do with what i study for my Diploma. So it is quite hard to find the job.
The main question is, is it ok/worth to take up a 1 year contract job offering 1.8-1.9 with 1 month bonus after the contract. It is a Jap MNC as recommended my job sourcing agent or do you think i should take up a perm role instead. Its quite difficult to find as my diploma does not have anything to do with the job i am looking for.
Hi HH...can you advise/any idea what technical marketing does? Need any prior marketing experience..? TIA...
Few things to establish.
1) I have a real job. So i might not reply quickly but i will try to respond to as many posts as possible but i will not respond during weekends so much (I have a family with a baby to take care of)
2) Do not send me private messages.
3) Do not ask me about my job
4) Feel free to ask anything else as long as it is not nonsensical. I will not respond to nonsense responses.
5) Do not ask me for jobs. I don't have lobang for you. This is more of an advisory thread
My background.
7 years in this line
Specialize in executive search (Salaries above 4k) but i used to do lower level recruitment last time
