my situation was sakura were late & tulips too early so have to be harvested.

yes dusk, everyone were waiting for sunset to luminate the snow mountain. i think last shuttle bus to station was 5p. so prepare to walk back to station unless got own transport

I have been trying to find old kishou's data for sakura bloom, from 2022 - 2018, to no success.

Those data could help me immensely in predicting sakura bloom forecast.

I have been using instagram to see how is the bloom like in the places that i wanted visit, but its not exactly efficient.

I heard 2024 was an outlier in terms of bloom. Would it be prudent to say that 2025 would have earlier bloom?

as i said again, impossible to predict especially this early. i would just plan flexi schedule & pray for the best.

thought i nailed on asahi funagawa, but tulips got harvested early. thought i was too early for hirosaki sakura, lucky to be there at peak

unfortunately, gone are the days of flexi travel, ever since the raise of JR Pass. Now flexibilty is only applied to certain regions, Prefectures like nagoya, shizuoka, or anything in the kinki region are excluded.

cancelling accommodation in agoda seem to incur some form of fees.

I wonder if there're better accommodation platforms for Japan. Hvae you tried Jalan.net? am looking for a flexible accommodation platform.

yeah costs up but still less headache during planning especially for those who make changes on the go.

i think many here usually fixed linear route, so easier to plan with lower cost regional pass.

seasonal events like sakura once u miss need to wait another year. so u need to justify yourself if these additional costs are worth it.

look for accomodations that gives free cancellations so that u can makes adjustment if necessary. did so many time on agoda, no extra fees

stay in hirosaki, was there just for sakura & really fabulous. aside from castle, apple farm, apple tarts, autumn leaves, winter illumination, not much to do.

it's start point for resort shirakami(scenic train) that heads to akita, did once on my previous trip there.

if u want to explore around the area like hakkoda, i think aomori is a better base.

I Remember that the accoms on hirosaki during the festival is pretty exorbitant, even aomori. My original plan back then was to stay in odate.

yes more affordable one all sold out. i can still find 1 or 2 in AGODA but they are at the other side of hirosaki station. just lucky to find one capsule in TRIP a month before my trip. could try JALAN as well, some not available in AGODA

wait, so foreginers can book thru jalan net? do they provide flexible cancellations? how is the price compared to agoda and trip, and does jalan or trip provide more hotel choices?

iirc problem with jalan is often they require u to provide japan residence postal code. free cancellations depends on hotel. jalan is more challenging to use, price might be better but i think not much for few days stay.

i don't really care who got more hotels, only interested who got the hotel i need that's within my budget. if keep comparing will make planning unnecessary complicated. but that's just me, so do whatever u want.

Will like to check with those who had been to Wakayama, is it worth staying at least 2 to 3 nights there to explore? My wife and I are not into temples, while Wakayama Castle seems ok ok nia.
