Hi all, tis might not b a FAQ but i do need help on the above AV amp that i owned. DSP-1092, as recently strange things is happening as it will turn off itself after 3-5mins on average which i had on to play my cny songs and is getting annoying. so i decided to give a search on the internet and what i found was people say it might be the speakers wires short-circuit, but today i when to service one of the speakers at one shop at sim lim tower the uncle told me it could due to the humidity. I hope someone can enlighten me and Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi AnTzX,

My advice is send to our Service Centre for a check to know what is wrong with it. It's free if you only need a check and decide not to repair.

i am asking which amplifier models has this function mode.
As i understand, other brands high-end models do have this mode.

For eg. does A-S2000 have this function?

Hi Thanks for your reply.

Yes, A-S2000 has this feature but it doesn't require you to turn it on. You can use the Main Direct Input from A-S2000 as this so called by Marantz as "Power Amp Direct Mode".

While in any ways, S2000, 1000, 700 series all have discontinued from our HiFi products line-up.

I was reading that the USB port on the YHT-S401 can be connected to an iphone/ipod and also other storage devices like USB thumbdrives.

But can I check if it will work when connected to an Android handsets as well?

Similar when connecting my Android phone to my PC - my PC detects the phone as a storage device.

Hi Robert,

All our AV Receivers supports HDMI Pass-Through function. Hence once you turn on this feature settings, you can power-off the AVR and the TV will automatically picks up the Audio playback from the AVR.

Anynet+ is HDMI CEC feature by manufacturer of Samsung. Yamaha don't name our CEC feature. But all Yamaha HDMI Products will supports CEC feature.

a) My Starhub connected to HDMI1-IN on AVR
b) My Blu-Ray connected to HDMI2-IN on AVR
c) My AC Ryan conneted to HDMI3-IN on AVR
d) HMDI-OUT (AVR) is connected to HMDI-IN on TV

Q1. If my SmartTV play videos from Youtube, how to get the sound from the AVR? Connect an OPTICAL wire between TV and AVR?

Q2. You mentioned that I can turn off the AVR at night. So if my AC-RYAN, Starhub and Blu-Ray all playing, which will be seen on TV? Note that the input to the TV now has only 1 input so cannot select SOURCE on TV now.

Hi, i intend to buy YSP2200 after seeing some good reviews in this forums.

However I am not sure whether the unit will fit my TV console which only has a depth of 14.5CM. I see the YSP depth is 14.5CM. If i dont need to leave any space behind the soundbar centre unit it will be just nice to fit. So i wanted to know do i need to leave space behind for neccessary wiring? I intend to connect to my TV and blueray using HDMI?

Well i would say the USB port for YHT-S401 does charge on all Android handsets but it doesn't detects it as a storage device. Hence you will not be able to playback from Android mobile devices.

One way is to use the Optical Cable connection from TV into AVR.
Another way is to use Audio Return Channel feature in the TV and AVR. In AVR, you will need to turn on this ARC feature under HDMI Settings. In TV, you will need to check with TV Manufacturer on how to go about to turn on the ARC Feature.

We were discussing about "HDMI Pass-Through" function in the AVR.

User can bypass the HDMI Video & Audio contents from any HDMI source [eg. Bluray Player, Set-Top Boxes, Game Consoles, etc] into AVR [AVR is on Standby Mode, simple to say is power-off mode] and AVR will send the Audio & Video contents into the TV.
Therefore you do not need to power-on the AVR but you still enjoy the Audio & Video contents from the TV during the night time.

You can only view single source at the one time. Either AC Ryan, Starhub or BD Player at one time.

You will need some space for sure for HDMI connections.
Well, there a few ways to do that given your tight depth of console.

I am getting Bowers and Wilkins CM5 for my computer. However the CM5 need an amp to power up the speaker. Previously i was using Audioengine A5 which is a powered speaker so amp wasn't needed. Didn't had a amp/receiver before so i don't know how to use it. Can i connect my desktop to amp/receiver and amp/receiver to speaker, and play song directly from the desktop ? By the way my desktop sound card is creative titanium x-fi hd has RCA input/output. And notice that it has HDMI port of TV, does it also act like a graphic card that improve the picture quality ? Which do you recommend me to get, amp or receiver ? And which model and pricing too.

That depends on which is priority to you. If Stereo music playback is a very important usage to you, 2-channel Integrated Amplifier would be the choice.
If playback of movies and musics both are equally important to you, AV Receiver will be a choice for you.
Note: Integrated Amplifier is solely meant for musics, there is no way to use HDMI connectivity at all.

Let me know what is your priority.
