Is there any region lock if we get ASUS router from China?

What do you mean by region lock?

Please refer to the first post of this thread to see the minor behaviour differences. Other than those differences, you can use the Asus China routers in Singapore without issues. The HW/FW are the same, the country code is the cause of the minor behaviour differences.

Since this is local set you should be able to get a new replacement set since it should be within 3 years warranty period.

You may want to contact MyRepublic first and then see if you need to get replacement from MR or Asus Singapore.
Think my ax 11000 pro just died. MyRepublic set. No wifi and lan connection, did hard reset also.
Just go straight and walk in to Avertek, ASUS, since MR is not the one providing after-sales support.
Probaby only require the invoice or deployment date of the router by MR for verification IIRC.

Yeah I did this. I realised there are some problems with certain units not being able to be used as Aimesh nodes.

my new replacement unit keep failing to be a node, even when finally connected keep going offline. End up I had to use the new AX11000 pro as main router, and swap out my other AX11000 as node, then everything works as per normal. I believe this is a problem affecting certain units. I have 3x AX11000 pro.

ASUS’ new RT-BE88U router is a more affordable way to get your home ready for Wi-Fi 7

To enable users to maximise its wireless performance, the RT-BE88U router has a 10G SPF+ port, a single 10G WAN/LAN port, a 2.5G WAN/LAN port, and three 2.5G LAN ports, and four Gigabit Ethernet ports. It also has a USB 3.0 Type-A port that can be used with a portable 4G/5G router as a backup. This selection of ports makes the RT-BE88U suitable for users who have subscribed to 2.5Gbps and 10Gbps fibre plans.

The ASUS RT-BE88U is available now and costs S$629. You can find it on Lazada, Shopee, and the ASUS Online Store.
This is indeed an affordable option compared to the GT-BE98. Sadly, it lacks the 6Ghz band.

Hi xiaofan, thanks for your recommendation. I bought Asus TUF AX6000 for my StarHub 5Gpbs.

I tested on safari speed test for my new Asus router.
The result is 119.3 (download) & 87.6 (upload).

May I know if it is normal?

Because I tested the bundled Nokia router . The result is 555.4 ( download) & 10.3 ( upload) .

May I ask the safari speed test was on what device and which wifi frequency ? 2.4 or 5.0 ghz ? 🙂

Hi Xiaofan. Which is the longest range Asus route u would recommend. It is for a 4br condo unit that my tenants are complaining of weak signal. Current set up is Asus ac68u

You have to post the floor plan (with details of the LAN ports in the rooms and location of the FTP and ONT ) to see if single router can cover the full flat or not if that is your intention. Placement is key.

What is the internet plan used? Using ONR or ONT will also have impact on the network configuration.

Most cost effective solution as a landlord is to use tplink powerline adapters and just pair it with a cheap Asus router to form a mesh network. Don't think upgrading your ac86u on its own will solve the weak WiFi issue.

Some people are selling their used xd6 mesh units as a pair after upgrading to bt10 - you should be able to get a good offer there.

Total cost probably under 250-300 to buy a pair of tplink powerline and used xd6.

Is there a way to make old routers act as switch? I have an ax88u which i dont want to make an access point coz for some reason if i mesh or access point and disable the radio, seems like the rest of the radios in primary and other nodes are impacted. Nonetheless why question is can old routers be configured to act as managed/unmanaged switch?

I 100% agree, placement is the key. Using 1 XD6 also can cover 100% my 5 room hdb flat with the weakest point hovering 3-4 bars (out of 5 bars) with speed test easily 300mbps+

I do not see why not. you can set the router to get dhcp IP address, then disable dhcp server function or ap function (assuming DHCP is from main router and you do not need any wifi) then the old router will function like a switch.

Dear all, it’s Christmas Eve and my Xiaomi AX3600 decided to go kaput on me.

Is GT-AX11000 or TP-Link HB710 a good replacement for my router?

I stay in the old HDB 4 rm flat layout so I hope the router is able to maximise the coverage in the house.

If it helps I’m still using Huawei’s ancient HG8240H ONT and I’m on M1 500mbps broadband plan (probably going to upgrade nxt year upon contract expiry)
