i run 2Gbps multi network wan (configured to loadbalance through pfsense) from viewqwest few years back. run LACP (layer 3+4 hash policy) on devices that can utilise it, nas, macbook pro, unifi ac hd. If u don't configure LACP properly, the connection can end up all on the same wire and not distribute evenly.
The speed increase was only felt during speed test (maybe i don't torrent much). but i had to deal with the complexities involved including out of order packets due to layer 3+4.
honestly the only thing gained is bragging rights. but hey if you think dual 1Gbps wan loadbalancing is for you. go for it. you will probably gain from the experience setting and administrating it. cheers

Hi bro, yea speed test can feel that aggregated 1+1 Gpbs speed. im able to max out download speed on steam to a "Single client" on my desktop using that 2.5gbps port downloading DOTA 2 at 200mb/s isnt it max out??

I think this is what most people want out of this 1+1 plan. Breaking that 1gpbs download speed. The AX86U deliver it in a splendid way, The AC86U also capable of dual WAN too, just that wired connection have to configured link aggregation to the desktop using 2 separate lan cable.

Just to check, anybody bought AX86U from taobao?

Are you able to change the language to English?

so for Singtel 1+1 Gbps is it also the same as 2 Gbps where it is 2 Gbps WAN from the Fibre temination point to the ONR?

Technically same just the settings on ONR are different in terms of port available for use

1gpbps line is connected to ur ONR which is has it own IP and the other 1gbps pass through using one of the ONR port to ur AX86U to configure as a wireless router instead of a AP. It will have its own IP too. u can buy a cat 6/7 cable and lay it from ur ONR to ur AX86U to configure for dual WAN. This way u can enjoy 2Gbps speed distributed by ur AX86U as ONR dont have its own wifi. Which i dont know why call ONR where cannot transmit wifi signal.....

Great to know that.

For FW upgrade, can those posted @ Asus SG be used on sets from taobao?

My set is from taobao, the last update I did was via the Asus Router app.

Coincidentally, there's a new update out over the weekend and was prompted today via the app.

I went to see the version number on the Asus SG website, seems to be the same as the one in-app (9318)

Version 3.0.0.4.384.9318
2020/10/2373.98 MBytes
ASUS RT-AX86U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.9318
- Improve system stability

Not sure if that answers your question.

The AX92U is tri-band router. Why is it not talked about much here compared to the AX82/86/88 routers even though they are all roughly in the same price range?

I am currently on Singtel 1Gbps plan with an ONT. I want a standalone router that covers my 1100sqft space well. My router location is quite centrally located in my place and my PC and smart TV have a wired connection to my Singtel router. I also have various devices like work laptops/iPads/phones connected via wireless.

Which router would you recommend for this?

RT-AX92U is meant to form a mesh, but then again it was a half baked product.
https://dongknows.com/asus-rt-ax92u-review/

But it is said new FW updates may fix the problem. Need to wait for confirmation.

Zenwifi XT8 is a better one for mesh.

For Single router, whether it can cover your flat or not it will depend on your floor plan and individual cases.

In any case, as a single router, AX86U/AX88U will most likely beat AX92U in terms of coverage. Then AX11000 will beat all of them.

Thanks so much for the response but why do you say the 86 and 88 will beat 92 in terms of coverage? Wouldn’t 92 be better because of the triband helping to reduce interference from neighbours’ WiFi?

RT-AX86U works with Singtel TV for ONT users. If you are an ONR user, they expect you to connect SingTel TV box to the ONR port, even if you ask them to bridge the ONR. The bridged port has no VLAN and you can not connect SingTel TV box to the bridged port.

They are also offering Linksys E9450 which does not support Singtel TV box at all as per SingTel Facebook.

bro today the technician came to change my ONR, now all ports can be used on the ONR.

currently the setup is ONR - Singtel Mesh Router - Singtel TV.

If i am getting AX86U, the set up with ONR - AX86U and ONR - Singtel TV. Is it like this?

Yes. That is correct.

BTW, I feel the SingTel "Mesh" Router (Consumer) is not bad in terms of wireless coverage. You may want to use if for a while to see how much you like it or dislike it before proceeding to buy the AX86U.

If you can ask Singtel to bridge one port to fully use the capability of AX86U, then it is more worth buying the AX86U.

On the other hand, now I am confused about your previous setup. Were you using ONR or ONT?

ONT -- only one port working (ZTE, Ericson or ALU)
ONR -- 4 ports working (Huawei or Nokia)

Are you sure you were using the ONR? If you were using ONT, then there is no problem to use the following.
ONT -- AX86U (SingTel Vlan profile) -- SingTel TV box

Only ONR is the problem.
ONR -- AX86U -- SingTel TV box (this will not work)

I find it weird too when the technician said I am using ONT, but on the thing itself it stated ONR. ZTE, got 4 ports but only 1 working.

The black ZTE is configured as ONT, even though it has " SingTel Optical Network Router" printed in the top. I have it myself.

What is the reason you want to change to ONR?

i was encountering something very weird on my connection, whenever i get high download speed, it will start to disconnect and connect until the download speed get below 100mbps.

the technician said that my black ZTE cant pair with the singtel mesh router.

That can not be true. You may have a bad cable or contact problem.

I am using the ZTE ONT with the SingTel Mesh Router myself.

Anyway, it is still okay. Did they give you Huawei ONR or Nokia ONR?

If you want to upgrade to AX86U, you can ask Singtel to bridge the ONR (one port).

Edit to add:
Your SingTel Mesh Router is the single router or the mesh solution from Airties or Askey? My one is a single router and not a mesh. Just the name is called "SingTel Mesh Router".
