Hi all,

my plan is up and i cant decide if i sld get a padphone 2 or padphone infinity. I dun think i am a heavy user, jus smart messagging, light games and probably use the tablet to watch movie/dramas.

i went through many of the threads it seems like the main problem with padphone 2 is the mother board and the camera that collect dust.

i understand that starhub is out of padphone 2 stock now.
1)i wonder if the new stock will still have the same motherboard issues?

2) we cant do ANYTHING abt the camera lens? (like buy anti dust cap or what)

3) does it use a mircro usb? if not, it will be hard to get the charging cable consider that its unique? (i am asking this because some say can charge with micro usb some say cant)

the only main factor i am considering is of coz the price. the padphone2 for my plan is now $199 and inifinity is $499. really want to know what is the main different and which one to get.

thanks for all ur help.

1) Most likely the new stock will not have motherboard issues
2) You can paste something over the camera if you are really bothered by it.
3) It uses a micro usb port for charging and data transfer, however the supplied cable has extra tooth to fit the port and it is really secure.

You can use a normal micro USB cable and plug in the port but it may be loose.

So far, i tried Samsung's USB cable ( loose ), HTC's USB cable ( a bit loose), Nokia's (quite secure) and 3rd party ones ( very loose).

Lastly, regarding infinity, it is just a bump up for the resolution + a slightly better cpu.

The cpu is not a huge improvement.

The resolution is personally choice, if you don mind 1280 x 800 for the tablet, then go for the padfone2 and save the $300.

If you are a pixel freak, then go for the infinity

just to share what's holding me back from infinity too:
1. apparently the speaker on both the phone and the tablet softer than what it was for pf2. considering that i use speakerphone while driving, this for me was a crucial difference.

2. starhub sells only the 32 gb if i am not mistaken which is very low for a phone without sdcard slot.

3. pfi is also not as nice to hold as compared to pf2.

unless you are very affected by pixels, pf2 makes more sense especially from a value for money pov. to be fair, really the difference in resolution between the pf2 phone and tablet is heaven and earth.

Starhub selling cheap for last batch of padfone1 that time. If you can wait another two month's time until the next computer show, that might give you some surprise.

I have gotten the padfone2 on Sunday & I already visited the service center & returned once. The station won't turn on when the phone docks. :s22: Service center changed both the connectors on the phone & on the station & he changed my camera lens too.

Finally managed to use the tablet after 3 days... :s22:

Hi all,

Did anyone root their padfone2 ? Are there issue using the pad station after rooting? I am thinking to root the phone to install Push Notification Fixer to resolve the delayed notification problem. Thanks all in advance.

I know that you can only buy the usb cable at the service center for $15 a piece.
but they don't sell other accessories there.

I haven't gone myself, but I think the best bet is ASUS store at sim lim...

hello all :o

my padfone 2 screen cracked and the screen can't detect my touch also

anyone know how to repair or know of anywhere that can repair it cheaper or say they provide the service of helping me change the screen while i provide them with the screen at a cheap rate?

i have found sites that sell the OEM Asus PadFone 2 LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly, but i'm scared that i will screw it up.

can't find tutorial on youtube :(

I want to know too. Yesterday met with some frustration getting screen protector for the pad. The shop tried once & finally gave up & refunded me money. Wasted my time.:(

There's a disassembly guide on ifixit.

I am kinda frustrated with the usb port and cam. Going to dismantle my phone when I have time to do the following:

1. Remove camera lens and use epoxy to seal the camera lens to stop dust from going in.
2. Desolder the proprietary usb port and solder a standard micro usb port in place instead (I don't have the padfone station 2 anyways, no use for the proprietary usb port)
