those having issues with the compass, install this app and do a compass calibration https://play.google.com/store/apps/..._result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsInNjZC5hdG9vbHMiXQ..

do it without the tablet dock, it seems like the compass gets messed up when docked.

My issue with the compass is that the compass needle is literally stuck in one position, and no amount of figure-8 or 3-axis turning can convince it to budge. (Turn until finger cramp, arm cramp also cannot)

I've tried all those 'compass calibration' apps on the Internet (which really just activate the compass so that it can self-calibrate; Android does not expose such low-level functions to apps) and none of them worked.

While it is good to hear that not all Padfone 2s are afflicted with this problem, it does seem rather annoying that a firmware update appeared to fix the problem, only for the next firmware update to break it again.

FWIW, I emailed Asus support, and this is their reply

Hi, we're very glad to help you. To resolve the issue, we recommend performing a full factory reset. Prior to performing the full factory reset, please back up all personal files because data will be erased during the process. Note that all your applications are tied to your Google account.
To perform a full factory reset please follow the instructions below:
1) Enter Settings menu
2) Select Privacy settings
3) Select Factory data reset
Once the factory reset starts, simply follow in onscreen instructions. When it is complete, the unit will restart.
If your problem could not be solved after my suggestion, I suggest you to take the product to our local service center to have a comprehensive inspection and help you to fix the problem.

...full factory reset to fix a compass problem. :s8:

Thanks, but no thanks. I'll gladly trade still having all my data for a working compass, and just buy Samsung the next time. =:p

Asus Customer support at Tai Seng? I think that's your only safe bet...

Can I sell something here?

I don't want to put it under Marketplace coz I don't think people will notice it as I doubt anyone will really look for Padfone 2 accessories there...

My compass is still screwed. Tried some of the methods here to no avail.
Anyone facing the same problem?

I also gave up on trying to fix my compass, and will probably never consider an Asus phone ever again.

However, as I wrote before, taking it to the Asus Service Centre at Tai Seng (for them to basically do a full wipe of your phone) may fix the problem.

Doing that fixed my compass. But I flashed an OTA, then it broke again.

Anyone still keeping the WWE 10.4.16.8 firmware on their HDD? Seems like the latest firmware drains the battery rather quickly and will like to revert back to the previous version. Asus website do not have the link to older firmware versions anymore.

Can anyone help? TIA.

Just to share one bad experience with the built-in email client. It does not work stably with Microsoft Exchange with security policy. On first install, it passed my company's security policy & downloaded all the email & calendar perfectly. This mean I setup the client perfectly. On subsequent refresh, it complained failed to connect to server due to security policy & refused to fetch any new email again. Reinstall & same problem repeats, works for 1st time & stopped the next.

Install TouchDown email client & the it works perfectly with my company's exchange server. Took me a long time to figure out the problem is with the email client instead of my company's security policy. :(

So, Asus, please fix the issue.

With Padfone Infinity 2 coming, I think Asus has pulled the plug for software updates for older models.

As of now, I'm trying to get it from Asus support officially. Hope I can get it and spare myself from going down to the Service Centre just to get a firmware downgrade.
