ASUS ROG G75VX

Hi bros, just asking if anyone bought ASUS ROG G75VX on March's PC SHOW 2013. I am having some questions about this model.

1) Does it comes with 5400 rpm / 7200 rpm?
2) Does thunderbolt comes with the recent model?

And also, comparing it with Lenovo Ideapad Y500 with this model, which one will be better?

And anything else which i need to take note?

I'm starting my university soon, and looking into casual gaming. However, FPS games are my priority and MMOs like WoW.

Recent G75 is using 5400rpm HDD. No thunderbolt.

You probably need to take note of the weight. G75 weighs around 4.5kg. Y500 is 2.8kg.

Depends on which model you are looking at, the older ones comes with either 1 or 2 of Seagate's Momentus XT 750GB. The newer model comes with a single 1TB drive, which is also a hybrid drive if I am not mistaken, but spins at 5400rpm instead of 7200rpm on the older hard drives. I think the highest capacity for a 2.5 inch hard drive spinning at 7200rpm is 750GB.

You probably need to take note of the weight. G75 weighs around 4.5kg. Y500 is 2.8kg.

While this is true, I don't think its a good comparison though. The G75VX is 17.3 inch, while the Y500 is a 15 incher. Personally, I prefer the cooling solution a lot more on the G75, which also explains for the huge chassis. But performance wise, the Y500 may have an edge if you are running dual GPU.

If you're bringing your laptop to uni on a daily basis I recommend strongly to avoid the G75 due to the weight and size.

I've been looking around for G55, but there isn't any retailers selling them anymore. Only the G75. I plan to carry it via the gaming backpack. It is still heavy?

I am still open to choices till PCshow2013. Any other good 15" gaming laptop supporting long period to intro bros?

To be honest, 17.3 inch laptops are more of a desktop replacement. You should go test and get a feel of it before you purchase. Not everyone is willing to lug a 4+ KG laptop around like me.

Anyway, you can consider Aftershock PC's X15. I think 15 inch laptops gives you the best balance between good performance and mobility.

lup from car park to office i find it siong

now using chronos feel much more lighter

Not sure if you have a Win 7 OS with you? If so, I believe it is possible. I was gonna get a G75 before, but got tempted by Aftershock's customization.

Chronos is lighter, that I am sure. Using the older gen Chronos 7, so side by side with my X17, it is really light, thin and small. Plus the battery life is great. This is a keeper for me too, for my wife to use.

But what I don't like is that it throttles at times, though not often. The temps under full gaming load will hit between 89-91 degs on my GPU (GT640M). CPU will hit over 85 degs. The air that gets exhausted towards the monitor gets very hot. So I use it primarily for lighter duties.

Anyway, this is the tradeoff of a slimmer laptop with good specs.

Y500 with gt650sli!? not too heavy also. Don't get something too heavy will regret!

I checked out the Lenovo Y500, and impressed by the dual GPU. But I am worried that it might be quite heated after long hours of gaming or usage, as compared to G75VX.

Any Lenovo Y500 users can feedback?

If your getting G75VX better wait for G750JX haswell+gtx770m and G750JW gtx760m!
