I just ordered China Tuf-ax3000. Intending to use aimesh with ac88u and ax3000 as a aimesh node. Would there be any problem?

Should be okay. You may need to set the region to Asia to have the same wireless bands in order for the AImesh to work.

Edit to add: not so sure if this works or not. I was thinking it should work but there seemed to be negative reports in this forum.

Anyone upgraded to the new firmware? Assassin mode working?

If you are not sure, do not upgrade.

For me I was deciding between China version of TUF AX3000 and RT-AX82U. In the end, I decided to avoid the trouble and bought RT-AX82U instead.

That's bad, since my main router RT-AC88U was from Amazon US. I checked the regions and it is US/06. Will aimesh have problem with AX3000?

Should still be okay. You can set the TUF AX3000 to have the same region (US) as your RT-AC88U in that case.

Region settings for RT-AX58U/82U and TUF AX3000:
Asia (many channles)
China (less channels)
Europe (many channles)
Region GD (never tried)
Region TC (never tried)
Korea (never tried)
The United States of America (many channels)
Australia (less channels, high Tx power for the China version)

Edit to add: not so sure whether AImesh will work or not. I was thinking it should work but there seemed to be negative reports in this forum.

Maybe my area not as good as u have, with that 26dbm, further place i can use is only outside my 4 rm flat corridor.😂

Same here. It all depends on the wall. With the thick HDB wall, signal drops very fast outside my door (year 1998 HDB flat), even with 26dBm.

Asus TUF-AX3000 Assassin mode limitation:

1) Only avaible as the main router. It will not be available as a AIMesh node, as per CoolShare forum post.
https://koolshare.cn/thread-191284-1-4.html

2) The wireless performance will be similar to RT-AX82U (4T4R in 5GHz, 2T2R in 2.4GHz), but there will be no link aggregation feature as the RT-AX82U, no LED effect. But the difference is not that important.

Hi xiaofan,

Newbie here. I have a similar user case here. I ordered China Tuf-ax3000 to use aimesh with my local set ac86u (zaku) and to make ax3000 as a aimesh node. All I need to do is to change the region of ax3000 same as ac86u (Asia?) before set up aimesh, right?
Thanks!!

Thanks for your prompt reply. Just to share my current set up on AX86U + China Tuf-AX3000 (managed to make the mesh work this afternoon)

The Tuf-AX3000 arrived this morning (Purchased from JD). After unwrapping the box, I didn't make any setting direct on it but instead, used Asus App to connect it as a AImesh node to AX86U (router mode connect to Singtel ONT), it took about 4-5 minutes to complete the auto setup and now I can enjoy full wifi coverage and boost speed in master bedroom (3 walls away from the main router, not even able to watch youtube in HD mode previously).

I found there is no way to check/change the setting on AX3000 from Asus App since it is in node mode. And I guess the regional setting should be auto-copy from the main router (Default Asia)?

Thanks for the updates.

You can use the web UI to check the region setting of the TUF-AX3000 mesh node. From the main AX86U router, check the IP address of the mesh node TUF-AX3000. Then launch the browser and point to the IP address of the TUF-AX3000.

Thanks for the guidance. Tried to put the IP of AX3000 into browser to launch but always force navigating back to AX86U web UI.

In AI mesh mode the secondary node will always forward u to primary node web UI for Login.

Only when u click USB application it would than being up the login screen for your secondary node.

I managed to see AX3000 UI through USB application from your tips. But it seems there are very limited options for me to check the setting of the node AX-3000.

I have just gotten local TUF AX3000. I know it is end of production model by now. Before i was dilemma between China's newer TUF ax3000-V2, TUF ax5400 and local TUF ax3000(with 3yrs warranty). After much research that ax3000 with potential and ax3000-V2 has degrade on it 5ghz chip in order to make it a real ax3000 so ax5400 can live at it category. AX5400 was decided to be out due to my broadband is only a 1gb speed. Taken local ax3000 partly due to it warranty.

Now after reading the 1st page here, i come to realise that the assassin mode is only for the China ax3000. (too late liao)

So im stucked with local ax3000, what can i do to release it full potential?

When i upgrade from linksys EA8100 to this local ax3000, speed has improve x2 but distance remain same.

I hope to have options to boost up my existing local TUF ax3000 with setting. Pls help with simple english, am no tech expert. Millions of thanks in advance...
