the gold is flashy?
personally i thought it is an ok and unisex. it is titanium gold and not very "loud". some angles will look like silver.

in terms of looks, yes, XPS 13 has one of the best design. the ASUS UX305 does look very decent and do not feel cheap.
in terms of value, ASUS and even Lenovo Y710 are better.

ASUS UX305 - Core i7, 8GB, 512GB SSD, QHD, 2 years warranty @ $1898
Dell XPS 13 - Core i5, 8GB, 128GB SSD, FHD, 1 year @ $1798
Dell XPS 13 - Core i7, 8GB, 256GB SSD, QHD Touch, 1 year @ $2299

ultimately see if you have the budget to go for the style or go for the value.

Saw Dell XPS 13 going for $1699 and $2199 at best denki respectively. Quite tempted. sia

My UX305 (5Y71 version with 8 gig ram) just died on me after slightly more than a year. No more warranty.

According to diagnosis , BIOS Chip failed and will need to replace motherboard. Bring to service centre this also don't know that also don't know, end up PCDreams diagnose for free for me and told me unrepairable.

Gave up because the repair cost will be more than 60% of the original cost.

Wow.. I think the same just occurred to my ASUS laptop too.
Black screen after pressing the power button? :o

black screen could be battery issue. try removing the battery and connect to power instead. did that to mine (not ASUS) and it works.

One of the possible reason given that this laptop is passively cooled. But i don't game on it or do other ntensiv activity.

Anyway got myself a new XPS 13 and enjoying it!

Which version you bought? The i7 touch screen or i5 non touch screen one?

My UX305 which replaced the vostro had the infamous intel graphics crashing problem and still no fixes even after a year.

which model of the UX305 did you use ?

This infamous intel graphics crashing problem still not resolve by Asus as of today ?

Thanks

my UA305UA less than 3 months old ...keyboard 1 key not working.

brought machine most recently to service center.... need to leave notebook with them 3~5 days, and they said quite sure hardware defect.

as I need the machine so not repairing for the moment, lucky that using external keyboard still works

honestly I decided to stay away from ASUS until they buck up in quality and service. I have heard of bad things about their service but thought I not so unlucky to get a lemon but now... regretted.

they have so much 'standard procedures' that suits themselves but not for their customers.:s22:

For those who bought UX305, do you all register warranty?
Or just produce receipt is enough for warranty

Wow left this thread a couple of months and so many issues

Asus really need to work on their QC, no point selling at a "attractive" price only to be saddled with a maintenance bomb one year down to the road

I took out the m2 ssd to use as a protable harddrive and sold my dead UX305 to a laptop repair shop for 100 bucks for them to salvage the LCD screen
