:s13: It took me a long time at first, when time passes my vision is clearer.

I'm a hardcore gamer, i played not simply because of fun. I will always head on to compete with other in FPS game. Even i'm not those professional out there. So for me, FramePS is very vital, my current machine only will get 60FPS when everything set to low, and the 60 is not constantly it jump from the range of 20~60. And the notebook heat up to 100C in CPU and 90C in GPU.

I narrow down a lot of machine, go from forum to forum. Until i find my goal. GTX780M is the best on our current market, and from what i see Asus G750-JH is by far the best cooling system, but it come with a very expensive Spec. I don't really need a SSD, myself~ so for budget but High End Spec~ i choose X15S, the cooling is not as good as the G750JH, but close to it.

As long as the notebook is capped at Max 85C~92C that can run 8hours daily~ of gaming. I'm satisfied

I think you should go for X15S too. Not sure how you compared the cooling between the X15S and Asus but rest assured the X15S has great cooling. In fact the cooling vents are placed in the same position as the Asus i.e. at the back. And if you still feel it's not cool enough, you can always invest in a good notebook cooler.

Plus Aftershock allows you to customize your system to your heart's content. If you don't need an SSD, you can always get an HDD. But if you never used SSD before, take it from me, it really changes everything! Loading time is significantly decreased. And I mean game loading, boot up, restarts, etc. I didn't have the budget for an SSD + HDD which some people feel is an ideal setup, so I went for a hybrid instead and it's amazing.

And it helps that the Aftershock team is very very helpful. You should try going to their website and use their online chat function. There is always someone manning that chat and they can answer your queries quickly. And it helps that they are gamers too so they should be able to answer any queries you have. Best is you go down to their showroom at Serangoon Rd, along the main Little India road. You can try playing games on their systems there.

Thanks everyone. After much thought, i think i may go for aftershock too. Support local products.:s13:

Weight is not really an issue as i rarely bring my current laptop to work and just pluggged in all the way at home. So my situation is more or less the same as aquaris85. Thanks for the detailed input to aquaris85 and m32t8103. Actually was thinking of getting G750JH but the price is just too expensive. Plus the 32GB seems unnecessary.

So just to be clear x15s comes with 2 hdd bay that can store SSD & HDD? Cos their website doesn't seems to have the second bay drive, only msata option.

Oops I got that wrong. If I'm correct, X15S has 1 HDD and 2 mSata bays. HDD space can put SSD. mSata bays can put SSD too but a mSata-SSD which is smaller in size.

yeah X15S is two mSATA. the previous generation X15 had only 1 mSATA slot.

The X15S has a second mSATA beneath the HDD bay if I'm not wrong. I believe there was a time when this 2nd mSATA port was reported to have some issues on some clevo batches, was apparently a motherboard issue. Not sure if Aftershock's X15 is using the newer motherboard.

just curious, why u guys went with XG15 and not XG17? the weight difference is small (0.1kg). But wouldnt screen size matter in gaming?

Even with the minimal difference in weight, XG17 is still noticeably larger in form factor than XG15, if using as a desktop replacement which you rarely bring it out of the house.

XG17 is definitely better with larger display, but for portability, XG15 win in term of overall dimension, ultimately is up to individual's needs ba.

Like for me, I got XG13 as I need the portability and light weight instead, although at times it seems rather small comparing to my desktop's 27" monitor but luckily the high resolution screen make up for it.

Hi Feraslash, just not to confuse yourself, I'm actually going for the X15S /X17S and not XG series. I'm not pointing out your mistake!!:s13::s13:

Hopefully will have enough money for this upcoming SITEX and grab mine:D:D:D

Just wanted to get some feedback on why pple choose 15" or 17" screens.
For me, the laptop will be at home (desktop replacement, as i have a desktop at home in JB). So I value bigger screen real estate. Better for gaming too?

Since you are primarily going to use it at home then just go for the 17" one ba, since bigger screen normally deliver better gaming experience...

For me im gettin my g750jx next week as there's a relatively gd deal going on by skyblue bro, plus i can trade in my old laptop which is linked to 19inch monitor which is from donkey years ago since my CounterStrike 1.6 days.

Will be slapping it with a 256gb ssd with international warranty once black friday is out on amazon...

You have to try out the machines, finishing, keyboard feel, palm rest feel etc.

Tried bf4 on my friend's stock g750jx, even with the stock 5400rpm hdd it also runs well....not forgetting that i can purchase the 3rd year extended warranty from asus @ $150 (default now is 2years international warranty).

for g750 jx purchased from Challenger, you can pay $298 (if i remember) for 3rd and 4th year warranty for members....

The 8gb ram in the g750jx is 1X 8gb (Korea hynix brand , CL11) , luckily they're no anal to give 2X 4GB . And lucky for me, i can take over my friend's ram as he gotten 4 rams with heatsinks. To get the same model of ram also no issue, asus experience store(vivo) sells the ram @ $89 (i've checked).

*For those who dont know, g750jx has 4 ram slots, of 2 is under the keyboard which u need major disassembly then you can access. The other 2 is just at the back panel, same location as ur 2 hdd slots.

Just buy the ram(s), goes to asus service centre with ur lappie and install (foc) and u wont get the warranty void for the 2 inner slots...

PS: Installing the ram at the asus experience store will void ur warranty. (dnt ask me why, asus service centre says so)

I've done some homework, and i hope it helps those who dont know what they dont know :)

My meat might be your poison :s13: *edited post

G750jx is quite good as my friend is currently using it. Kinda value for money laptop. Just that if you replace the HDD to 7200rpm, equipped with primary SSD, the price would be almost the same as Aftershock. Moreover during CEE they equipped the rig with 780M and cost only around 27xx. Its quite a good deal for me then to go for Aftershock.

Yeah, if you just gonna place it at home, then go for the 17". Too bad my bike box couldn't fit 17".=:p

Yap. But my request is in btw that 2 models with 780m.

However 780m clock speed still very fast..

Are you buying old second hand models with those GPUs?

The x15 vs G750 are different sized laptops so its hard to compare without knowing what you really want.

well then you'd simply be trading for a smaller machine with virtually the same GPU performance. Did the person actually tell you the specs of the x15 they are trading and did you review it to decide if its what you want?
