phones bought outside of Asus stores are not eligible for 1-1 exchange. this includes Singtel sets. ask me how i know

after a short hiatus, finally we hear something from asus today. there is another minor update received today.

it's welcoming to know that they made some improvement in their BT transmission and camera software. I started to pair my a few years old creative BT eyepiece with this phone to use in gym recently. but connection is very sensitive, a slight head turn will cause some static noise. i thought it was my old earpiece issue, hopefully this update able to mitigate this problem.

Zenfone SMMI Test

Not sure you guys are aware...there is a SMMI test app in zenfone which can be used to test the phone hardware.

Just run the original calculator app, key in .12345+=

Flashing Android Marshmallow + Multi window

1) Install Intel USB driver for Android Devices (this is a new version, recently released): https://software.intel.com/en-us/android/articles/intel-usb-driver-for-android-devices
2) Enable USB debugging
3) Unlock Bootloader using this. Unzip and just run bat
4) Download the custom recovery TWRP for your model. Rename as twrp.img then Copy inside the tools folder that you unzipped earlier
5) From that folder, Press shift + right click > open command window. Type adb reboot fastboot. Phone will restart in fastboot mode
6) Type fastboot flash recovery twrp.img It should be done instantly
7) Boot normally and download any custom roms you want into microSD
For example this: Resurrection Remix
Also need x86 pico gapps
8) To install just type adb reboot recovery, (optional: backup your current image first)
9) Under advance wipe, wipe everything except microSD then flash your new ROM

Bonus: To get multi window, install root explorer, open system folder > edit build.prop
Add this to the last line of build.prop:
persist.sys.debug.multi_window=true
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
<empty line>
<empty line>

then reboot.

To squeeze more things by making app look smaller, need to edit DPI
by opening the adb command prompt earlier and type
adb shell wm density 250 for z008; or
adb shell wm density 450 for the 1080p display

ya dont know what rubbish either since i use nova, not stock launcher.

Ever since updated, keep getting the error of SIM1 not installed and it completely unable to recognise the SIM. When turn on and off airplane mode, its able to recognise the SIM again.

Really getting tired of this crap from ASUS.

Apparently it's a hardware flaw due to the design of the SIM holders which is on all ZF2.
