This is my personal opinion.
If the speakers remain same. Changing the DAC/Soundcard wont dramatically improve sound. Its difficult even for a trained sound engineer with a blind test.

Sound cards are not like graphics cars which can show quantifiable improvement (unless you use a audio analyzer).

I prefer to use balanced audio cables as its less prone to interference. I buy interface/sound card based on requirements. Better mic preamps, SPDIF digital outs, mixer options, DSP effects..

If all you do is listen to youtube audio, buying a sound card to improve audio quality is useless. Now if you talk about lossless audio like flac or really crazy DSD files where one song can be 400mb and have ears which can recognize pitch then yeah a good sound card would be good upgrade.

Oh...hmmm so i should stick with my USB soundblaster play then instead of getting the G6?

ahhhh really confused now haha.. i only game and watch content from youtube, netflix etc.

my initital thoughts was that it will make my sound richer, with tighter bass, mids etc. Am i clearly wrong? So no change in sound at all for my instance?

G6 is like a portable DAC. You can carry with you anywhere.

But for audio, if you have doubts, most likely you won't hear any diff.

The recent SXFi episode did highlight an interesting occurrence which people probably don't realize

When the SXFi was released and people were trying to review/"review" to talk about how good or useless it is, most of the serious discussions involved recorded audio clips of the improvement/"improvement".

Well this is because audio is hard to quantify, and because there is an audible and recordable difference.

Notice how most reviews of DACs and amps don't even bother to record what comes out of the DAC / amp.

;)

Just share my experience.

This is my setup,
Previous
PC - -> Audioengine A2 (spoilt)

To
PC - -> Roland UA-55 - -> Genelec 8030

Now
PC - -> Mytek Brooklyn DAC - -> Genelec 8030

In fact, the sound quality is improved. but you won’t really hear how much the improve, unless you AB versus side by side.
Reality, go listen on your own, choose which one you like, and enjoy your music:)

G5 is portable since it has bluetooth for mobile phone usage. The g6 does not have bluetooth, guess it is mostly use for PC, ps4

if really no difference... now its $199.. like throw money right? haha... damn.
