U may wish to consider Yulong DA8 also. My friend had both the Yulong and Mytek and he prefers Yulong and feel it is better both as DAC and as a headphone amp. He made the comparison mainly with Senn HD800 and Beyer T1.

Tried the Yulong le
Personally, I feel that as a DAC, Mytek performs better
But as a AIO box that functions as DAC and amp, the DA8 performs better

That's y the BMC Pure DAC is so intriguing to me
A Sabre DAC that does DSD, with single ended and balanced headphone amp
The 4 pin XLR headphone is clearly not meant to be just an after thought
If BMC dare to implement the balanced portion of the amp, it has to be of high performance

Just got my M50S for $110, waiting to be shipped

Actually not sure about whether it is comfortable or not for me, since I have an unusual big head. But I hope that should not be a problem.

I got it for 117 USD on amazon a few months ago..I find that the earcups are a little too small for my ears. However, the headband adjustment can go quite a long way so I wouldn't worry about that.
I left it length-wise on a tissue box for a few days so that it's more comfortable

Btw the straight cable version's cable is really quite long..
Also, you can unscrew the jack to reveal the smaller 3.5mm..didn't know this at the start lol

is the M50 good? Worth the buy? How much is stereo selling? Thanks ! :)

Imo it is worth it, especially at the price offered on amazon atm

Order > 125 USD = free shipping, so just add a few more items to bring the total to over 125 USD

Stereo's site shows it at 238 SGD

There's no which one has better sound, both are considered the most balanced and highly-resolving headphones models among their own W-series lineup so it all comes down personally to yr own sound preferences. No shop is carrying the W5000's locally here since ATH SEA does not carry it officially according to Randius, I managed to tried it a few yrs back during one of my trips to HK, just recently acquired my own pair as well.

W3000ANV's inherent sig lies somewhere in the low-mids, and it has a much more chesty/thicker overall weightiness in terms of the bass response/texture. W5000 is not lightweight in bass, but has lesser quantity of it and is also leaner both in quantity and thickness/texture. i think the correct description here to describe W5K's bass is it's a more light-footed ver of W3K if you ask me.

W5K's tonal color and signature focus is more on the upper-mids response, but the highs are very clear and transparent as well, it isn't any much inferior compared to W3000ANV. Highly-resolving, effortless and extremely smooth w/o grain is what I would describe W5K's treble quality to be exactly, before this I thought my AD1000PRM was alrdy quite resolving and smooth-souding in terms of details, but after some proper A/Bing over these 2 weeks, apparently I was proven wrong.

The W5K has a much better resolution definition and scores quite abit higher in terms of clarity/transparency areas to my own ears no doubt, over the AD1000PRM. Both models did utilised Permendur materials in terms of the internal voicecoil circuitry though, so I think it all just bottoms down to the fact that ATH had implemented a higher-grade ver of 53mm driver in these W5K instead, despite that the AD1000PRM was a limited ed model.

You can make yrself free and come down for the Dec local meet organised by alamakazam, the thread is somewhere in this forum. Both Randius and me will be there and we shd be able to answer some of yr questions concerning these 2 models, since he's a current owner of the W3K himself and I will be bringing my W5K along to the event meet as well, you may have a listen at it for yrself.

Hi Haonan,

Thank you for the clear description on the difference between the 2 diff W series AT headphones. I will try to attend the meet organised by alamakazam on 8 Dec. Hopefully I will be able to hear both phones on that day.

after gianing for 1 and a half years I finally got my ath-m50 red from Stereo during lunch time just now.

i do have a pair of sj33 but the earpads were white ones. so hard to get a replacement earpad when they are white.

at least black earpads are easier to replace.

the price was alright too 198. i was a bit apprehensive when its 238 and 268 for the 2012 LE one.
