Hi bro! Upon trying the Audio Technica ATH-AD500X I find that it has good and wide soundstage, sounds natural. I compared it to Sennheiser HD518 and this sounds warmer, HD518's bass is fuller. On the other hand, I like the clarity for the mids of Grado SR80e.

I took out these three models to have a comparison for open-can headphones with close price range to give a rough idea. At the end, it still boils down to our own preference and comfort is also a must. Check them out also if you have time. Audition units are available in both stores.

Hi bro! You could look at the iFi Micro iDSD. A great USB DAC and headphone amplifier that is ready for any file format and sample rates currently available. We've already tested those two headphones you've mentioned with Micro iDSD and they sounded great.

im50's pin on left housing broke after 1 week of usage, then pin stuck in replacement cable. Will the technica cover the housing warranty? now the left housing 1 pin missing, need to go down to ubi right?

Ok, do you have experience with their warranty?

Lets just say they are quite strict, and warranty covers only if driver break down or no sound. Physical damage due to user or poor QC usually not covered, may depends on a case to case basis. So call to clarify would be a good step.

Anyways, I'm looking for some gear with smaller footprint for a new system as I'll be moving and it isn't possible to carry everything over...

actually soundwaves at bedok mall had that amp for demo for sometime already. tried it the other time with a red headphone, sound great if you ask me
