Need some help peeps.
I am using Illegear RE-15, which is basically same as Aftershock XG-15.
With the ATH-IM02 plugged into the headphone jack and nothing playing, I hear a hisss sound. Like empty radio channel when u searching for stations, if u get what i mean. I have to turn the volume of the song higher than usual to drown out the sound. I dont get that the sound when its plugged into my iphone 5.
With my headphones (Soundmagic HP-150), I dont hear that background sound.
How do i get rid of the sound?
Add-on: when starting up laptop, also got sounds. is it cause of the impedance thingy?
Hi Feralslash
The hiss sound you described is likely caused by the laptop due to a number of reasons
1) The hiss noise might be heard only when the charger is plugged in, remove the charger if it's not needed, Balance Armature drivers like those used in the IM02 is particularly sensitive enough to pick up the noise caused by the charger
2) Space constraint in the design of a laptop forced most manufacturer to place the sensitive audio related components (like the built in sound card) closed to other components that generate noise (EMI), even worse those sensitive audio components share the same power supply with other components that will pollute the power supply, causing more noise
If unplugging the charger don't work, one effective way to solve the problem is by using an external DAC (Digital to Analog Converter), when connected those DAC effectively takes over the task of the computer's sound card, and since they can be placed further away from device that generate EMI they are more immune to such noise, in most cases an external DAC + headphone amplifier will out perform the computer's built in sound card due to better circuit design and components used
Feel free to ask us more question if you have any doubts
Hope this helps
